Vehicle Detail
just a great old beetle here up for auction. this car has been my daily driver now for almost three years. everything works, even the am radio and dome light. the transmission has been rebuilt, original split case, (must be stopped to put it in first) i have documentation that the engine is the original 36 hp from the factory, how many actual miles is unknown. drips a little oil, but has strong compression and runs quiet. the interior is in great shape, i have a new headliner, and rubber seals for the back and side windows, never got around to putting them in. the seat covers and door panels are from wolfsburg west as well as the original coconut cushions. the car has seen some rust, but most of it has been repaired fairly well. under the battery tray, shock towers, rear bumber mounts and lower quarter panels have all been welded in. i replaced the passenger door, that's why its red. with a paint job the car would look perfect, i liked it the way it is and never had it painted. heater works, brake lines and hoses, pads, cylinders, master cylinder all recently replaced. new radial tires. recently done was the front end suspension, link and king pins, dampner, shocks and tie rod bushings. the car drives perfectly straight. all matching body and frame numbers, manufacture certificate from the vw museum included, as well as an original manual. buyer responsible for shipping, this will be a paypal deposit, with a bank check to finalize the sale. On Dec-29-10 at 10:34:15 PST, seller added the following information: happy new year folks. i forgot to mention that originally 1960 beetles did not have gas gauges. the one you see there was added at some time, it is an original vdo gauge that matches the speedometer, it doesn't work....but the reserve fuel tap does. you drive the car until it sputters....kick over the fuel tap and you have a reserve to get you the station. i go about 300 miles before i use the tap. relisting the bug here folks. the reserve was almost met, so i lowered the reserve. keep a good thing going here with this black beetle and good luck.On Jan-05-11 at 14:28:18 PST, seller added the following information: Just a couple of things I wanted to add that I thought of. The oil pressure switch needs to be replaced, easy fix. Also a lot of questions about rust, heater channels and so forth. This car is not perfect, but it runs and drives really well. It's a good feeling, smelling bug, just like you remembered them. I have to sell because my teen age daughters don't get it...would rather have something automatic, with air conditioning etc....I was planning on passing the car on to them.
