You are bidding on a 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle. Own an “easy on gasoline” vehicle that gets everyone’s attention!! This Super Beetle is originally from southern part of Virginia where I purchased it from the original owner’s estate when it was settled in 2008. The vehicle was originally yellow when she purchased it in October 1974 but has been very professionally painted to this blue/green tint at some point. This little car was not driven much as I really think the mileage is correct when I looked at the entries in the owner’s manual…it got its first oil change at 2,929 miles in 1978 after she had it for 4 years!!…then second at 5,680 miles in 1986. The speedometer now reads 31,300 which would make sense based on the two entries in the book however without the owner’s testimony I have to sell it as beyond the mechanical limits of the speedometer for the state’s paperwork system on these older cars since they only go up to 999,999 then kick back to zero. She kept even the original window sticker from the dealer!! It shows original sticker price of $3,156.00. The paint is relatively nice and I have cleaned and used rust converter to touch up some of the places where it was cracked and bubbled around the fenders and headlight. This vehicle shows its age in some areas such as the bottom of floor panels but all are repairable as you know--VW beetles have every part available aftermarket. There is no bondo repair that I can find but it does need some attention to a few areas as mentioned. The engine starts immediately. I am selling due to my son’s college tuition coming due soon. You will not find many Super Beetles out there in this good original condition that at you can put very little effort into and have a show room floor condition vehicle. The original 1600 cc engine is strong and it has the Automatic Transmission that shifts smoothly and is perfect for those who hesitate at looking at standard shift vehicles. It has four new tires (plus new spare tire) that I just placed on it less than 100 miles ago. The inside of the beetle is almost mint with a small tear in the back seat and one tear in the headliner near the back window. Original Volkswagen AM radio still plays as good as when first turned on. Anything and everything electrical is working on the vehicle. This has been a really dependable vehicle and I would not hesitate to take a trek across country in it. The motor is very dependable and has never failed to start even on very cold days. As any collector of VWs knows this is a very collectable piece and can command very high prices in restored condition. My reserve is less than the Average Retail even though this car is what I would consider in the mid-range between average and high.
