Here's the good: 152k miles, VO Control/Plant Drive (professionally installed) WVO system, 4 new Uniroyal tires (less than 5k) and car is in cosmetically decent shape, and I recently replaced the glow plugs. Car (when NOT counting free vegetable oil) has seen mileage in the range of 270 mpg on long trips when you ONLY COUNT THE DIESEL FUEL BURNED. Routine commuting in the car saw 100 to 120 mpg when you ONLY COUNT THE DIESEL FUEL BURNED. Otherwise car gets 43-50 mpg running on diesel alone. The cost of the parts and labor for the VO Control system was $2500 which included an $800 trekker 20 gallon fuel tank, plant drive veg therm inline fuel heater, 6 port pollack valve and programmable VO Controller (www.vocontrol.com). The only issue that I have with the fuel system is as follows: In colder weather (Dec., Jan., Feb. here in NE North Carolina) it takes a little too long to heat up the fuel but I park outside. I do have a flat plate heat exchanger that comes with the car and this should alleviate the problem. Also the filler necks on the tanks weep just a little if the tank is full more than 15 gallons. HERE IS THE NEW DEAL: Reserve is lower (approximately 20%) than closing bid from previous auction. I have complete kit to replace the water pump/timing belt etc. including factory specialty tools needed to do job ($600 with shipping). THE MOTOR HAS BEEN BORE SCOPED (THROUGH THE INJECTOR HOLES) AND THERE IS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE PISTON CROWNS no holes or cracks. Car has dented but fully operating trunk. There are some stone chips in the leading edge of the hood but no perforation anywhere on the car. The rocker panel seam under the drivers door is dented and the rear bumper cover has a little scuff in it Car was 100% reliable until jumped timing and has had no issues in 70k miles of driving since I bought it used at 85k. Deduct the dented truck (300-500 at a salvage yard for a grade A replacement), and the non running aspect it is worth $6,000 if deduct another $1,000 +/- Labor at Aerodyne in Portsmouth, VA is $300, valves and a set of lifters is around $350, gasket set $100... A re-manufactured head is $800... You can do the math. $500 NON REFUNDABLE deposit on close of auction.
