1996 Chevrolet Impala SS

The seventh generation Chevrolet Impalas produced from 1994-1996 have become increasingly popular over the years and to many people are considered modern-day muscle cars. The car was, in essence, a high-performance version of the Caprice and nearly identical to the concept car unveiled a the 1992 Detroit Auto Show where the Impala SS badge was resurrected. From a mechanical standpoint, it used the Caprice 9C1 police package as its base and as such got most of the equipment formerly available only to law enforcement and government agencies. This included a sport-tuned suspension with reinforced shocks and springs, a high-capacity upgraded reverse flow cooling system, larger and more powerful four-wheel disc brakes, transmission cooler, dual exhaust, a higher-output electrical system, and other minor mechanical alterations. Painted dark grey green with a grey leather interior this Impala SS is in good condition both cosmetically and mechanically. The Corvette powered 5.7L V8 is hooked up to a four speed automatic transmission and under aggressive acceleration you can really hear the performance inspired engine come to life. Recent service includes a new thermostat and gasket installed in November, 2010.
