Vehicle Detail
This is my 1968 Dodge Charger. It's a WW1 white car with A dark green vinyl top and green interior. The bumble bee stripe is painted on in dodge racing green(matches the paint on the inside of the doors)Six pack scoop was grafted on the original hood for extra clearence.the turn signals on the hood work great. ABSOLUTLY NO RUST ON THIS CAR!!! OK.first the car is originally from AZ.it was an original 383 H code PS,PB,AC,727 .8-3/4"REAR SURE GRIP CAR.do not have the original engine,Trans,AC or power brake booster(ex wife kept them in the divorce) but know where the engine is and possibly the trans??.It Came to the mopar nationals in 2002 where i purchased it. when i went to look at the car.the first thing i did was get on the ground and look at the underneath of the car.it looked very clean,so i bought it.the car had a crappy paint job on it.looked like a 99 dollar maco job just to sell the car.i took it to my body man and had him strip it to the metal and fix any little monsters he found.body wise.the car has all the original sheet metal except for the deck panel and truck floor.every one that has ever had this car up in the air was totally amazed at how clean it is for a 42 year old car.the only thing i can say should be done to this car is,bumpers should be fixed and rechromed or replaced(rear bumper has a decent ding right in the middle of it.the front bumper is nice except for it looks like someone lifted the car with a bumper jack and tweaked it so the bumper kind of tilt downwards)and the magnum 500 rims are not in the best of shape.other then that shes a sweet ride. it has a 500" bb stroker engine in it.it was redone last winter, only has 350 miles on it.727 auto with a 10" 3000 rpm stall con.8-3/4 rear with 3.55 sure grip.suspension all redone with PST poly graphite bushing kit.bigger sway bar in front(1-1/6"),and put a sway bar in the rear(7/8").new 1.02" torsion bars(car handles very well)new upper and lower ball joints.new inner and or tie rod ends and adjusters.new idler arm and pitman arm.has hemi leaf springs(6 leaf one side 7 leafs the other)under side of car and interior is just as nice as out side of car(excellent) heres the info on the engine.the block is a 76 400 block bored .035" to 4.375".it was hot tanked and checked for cracks before being bored.all the machine work was done by nelson belot of belot auto machine in pittsfield,ma.the block was ground for clearence with the stroker crank.the crank is an eagle 4340 forged 4.150" stroke crank with the mains cut to 400 size.the rods are eagle 4340 h beam rods in 440 lenght(6.760")with a .990" pin.it has TRW main bearings and king hp rod bearings.here are the cam specs Camshaft Technical Details Intake Valve Lift 1.5 Exhaust Valve Lift 1.5 .548" .555" Intake Valve Lift 1.6 Exhaust Valve Lift 1.6 .584" .592" Intake Duration at .050" Exhaust Duration at .050" 237° 242° Lobe Separation Angle 108º Intake Opening at .050" Exhaust Opening at .050" 13.5° BTC 52° BBC Intake Closing at .050" Exhaust Closing at .050" 43.5° ABC 10° ATC Min. Suggested Cylinder PSI 175 Sweet Spot RPM 2300 - 5600 the cam is from hughes engines, part number HEH3742BL .the timing chain is from progear with both cam and crank gears being hardened.the crank gear also has 9 keyways that you can advance or retard timing in 2 degree increments.the roller rock arm are from hughes as well and have a 1.6 ratio.pushrods are from crane cams with a .080" wall thickness.cam bearing are durabond.lifters are comp cam magnum lifters.heads are edelbrock rpm aluminum heads that were fully ported by modern cylinder head.they have 2.19" intake valves and 1.81" exhaust valve.valve springs are comp cams 925 springs. with positive lock valve seals.intake is also an edelbrock rpm dual plane hi rise with a holley 9380 830cfm carb with manual secondaries.it has a melling hv oil pump.the car has an MSD 6al ignition with an MSD 8545 billet distributor and MSD 8.5mm plug wires.the interior is totally stock except for the steering wheel which is a grant wood wheel.i wanted a mechanical oil pressure guage so i put a period correct sun vintage green line guage.i would say from 0-10,the interior is a 8.5.no rips or tears anywhere .as i told you.the bumpers and wheels are in need of some attn but,ive taken the car to shows the way it is and still brought home trophies.let me know if you need any more info.and remember.the underside and interior are original.and i do know where the numbers matching 383 h code engine is if some one is interested in that?I have a $30,000 written appraisal for the car the way it sits. WILL CONSIDER AN AC COBRA REPLICA(NO DONAR CARS PLEASE) OR OTHER INTERESTING MUSCLE CAR TRADES.
