Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a beautiful, completely original* 1968 Honda CB160 *I swapped out a few things but still have the original parts, more details below. I bought this bike awhile back with the idea to do a complete restore. With a big move coming up and no time, I need to clear it out of the garage. When I purchased the bike it was a joy to ride but it did have a few minor issues: Bike ran great but the revs where jumping around a bit and there was rust in the fuel lines. Handlebars (original) had a crack. No foot pads. Cracked gas tank "knee pad". Front break needed re-built. Throttle, clutch and brake cables could use a replacement. Clutch was sticky. Headlight came on and off. Not too bad for an un-restored 40 year old bike. Here is what I did with the bike: I cleaned and sealed the tank. Re-built the petcock valve, added new fuel lines and fuel filters. Thoroughly cleaned and rebuilt the carbs. Replaced the handlebars with a "universal" handlebar set. The original handlebars can be fixed. They are far from worthless and come with the sale. Replaced the grips with a universal set. OEMs can be found for less than $20 on ebay. Replaced clutch, front/rear brake and throttle cable with NOS (NEW OLD STOCK) CB160 cables. (old cables come with the sale) Replaced knee pad with NOS. Added foot pads with NOS. I did not mess with the clutch or headlight. The frame is in great condition with little rust. All chrome is nice with some petting but nothing unusual. The wiring is fantastic and all original. As you can see in the pictures the original seat is in great condition with only a very small rip (size of a quarter and is covered by tape). Gas tank has no dents and is beautiful with the original Honda emblems. Both tires have tread left and hold air fine. Electric starter and kick start both work great. Brake light works fine. Speedo works fine. Includs Honda tool kit that's built into the bike. The bike does not have a title. I did have a Sheriif come and inspect the bike and run the VIN. Everything came out clean and he signed a "Physical inspection of an Indiana Resident's Vehicle" form which is the first step in Indiana to get a new title. So the bike should have no problem getting a title. The signed sheet can transfer over with the bike. Once I finished cleaning up the fuel system and proceeded to work on tuning the carbs and that's where I left off. I fouled the left spark plug (newbie mistake) so the bike still needs tuned up and a new plug will be needed for the left cylinder. Again, this bike is completely original from what I can see and comes with all original parts. The only thing not original or not NOS parts are the grips. When I first got the bike, I was thinking of doing a complete restore, but once I started to work on it and realized how good of condition it was in, I wanted to simply get it running well and ride it like it sets. Absolutely classic looking. I check my email all day and will be quick to reply, so any questions will be answered promptly. I have no problem working with your shipping company of choice if you're across the country and I have no problem taking additional pictures of anything. Thanks for looking and good luck. On Dec-12-10 at 09:33:27 PST, seller added the following information: Front brake has NOT been re-built. Sorry I did not mention it above. It doesn't hinder the ride-ability of the bike (It's not rubbing). However it does affect the stop-ability. On Dec-14-10 at 06:25:54 PST, seller added the following information: Currently 87 watchers, so hopefully we see some bids this weekend. It was brought to my attention that the exhaust on this bike has been modified. I wasn't aware (didn't notice) until I did a google search for CB160's. Sure enough, my exhaust doesn't look like the ones in google. Specifically the tips of the exhaust. After closer inspection of my bike and the CB160 google pics, it seems the very tips of each side have been cut off at an angle. I was told this was a popular thing to do "back in the day" to make for a better looking exhaust. The inner "muffler" of each side was untouched. So this appears to be an aesthetic mod and does not affect anything mechanically. The cuts are clean, in fact so clean I didn't even realize they where cut (as said above). Any other questions just ask. Good luck!
