Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1964 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. It runs but should get a restoration. Body is Straight and would make an awesome winter project. The milage is original. You could have it driving on the road in about a weekend if your handy. I have all the chrome and some extra parts. I will add more pictures and info shortly. On Dec-18-10 at 09:28:19 PST, seller added the following information: Hi there! As promised, I'm adding to the description and adding to the photos. Have a full look at my replies to the posted questions for more specifics as well Overall, the car is straight. I've got all the chrome and some extra parts. I've got a brand new carpet for the interior (In a box, not installed, the spare tire, extra hub caps, and the tires were brand new (a full set all the way around) purchased a couple of years ago. I probably put 600 miles on them... This was a driveable, running restoration while I drove the car on weekends. Due to an injury, my work on it stopped a couple of years ago, though I would still take it out for a spin every now and then. It has been covered most of the time. As it stands now, I start and run the car about every 6 weeks and move it around the driveway a little bit. The gas in the tank has gotten stale and needs to be drained. The last time I started it (about a month ago) I thought the full system fouled up and I hooked a 2 1/2 gallon gas tank right into the carb and it started fine. And there were no clogs in the fuel system as the junk gas was being pumped out of the fuel pump... The car does't leak any fluids. The brakes work, but should at least be bled. I would change the brake fluid, engine oil (and gas) as an act of good measure. The engine and trans (and rear end) seem to be in fantastic shape with no running issues or knocks or noises. Rebuilding the engine or trans would be totally last on the list. Body wise, there is some rust in the quarters and the floor board on the drivers side has a rust hole through it... The right answer would be a new floor pan, though you could cover it up with some sheet metal and put the new carpet down... There is probably some rust elsewhere, but it is far from a rust bucket. It just depends on how far you want to take the restoration. As seen in the photos, the car could use paint. The interior is in fair shape and the headliner is tight with no rips, though (as seen in the pics) you would either want to bleach the headliner (be careful with the bleach) of re-dye the liner. I have some of the interior out of the car as I was tweaking things as I went, and it made the job easier. So, the dash and the passenger door panel are out. This was done to work on the dash lights and door switches.... The dash is in good clean shape, though there are a couple of minor cracks in it The windows all work although sometimes a little slow and the power seats work too. The lights work (though some of the interior lights may need bulbs) The car has A/C but seems to be out of freon. The fan / vents blow. The reality is, (in knowing your not spending 15,000 dollars on it) is that it's a weekend restoration project. Everything is clear cut, you can take a weekend and decide to work on lubing all the drive mechanisms and switches for the windows and doors... another weekend to work on the interior.... a weekend to deal with the fuel system and make it perfect. etc... For the sake of just getting the thing running for your first cruise, I would bleed the brakes, change the gas, antifreeze and oil, get a new battery (the alternator works) crank it over and go. As I mentioned before, it will be your car so these choices will be up to you.... If you want to do a frame off restoration, it's all there. (and if something small is missing and I find it, I'll mail it to you) or if you want to leave it as is and cruise around you could with out a whole lot of expense. All up to you.
