1969 CORVETTE VIN# 194679S731893 PLEASE DIRECT ALL QUESTIONS TO (815) 668-5615 When the big blue general minted this 1969 Corvette, the “Stingray” shark would become one of the most widely popular production model years and makes ever issued and certainly the most popular for its generation. The war’s boom economy of 1969 delivered plenty of servicemen requiring the most suitable transportation available in the Summer of Love, so when Corvette’s design team gleaned inspiration from America’s interplanetary pursuits, Chevrolet mustered this timeless American icon with Detroit muscle making us dream bigger and faster. We have spent almost three years making this Shark as nice as possible because the rare convertible is LOADED as built from the factory with just about every desirable option available on the now legendary 1969 Corvette Stingray: factory four-speed, 350 horsepower, power steering, power windows, A/C and the timeless side pipes that have never made 1969 sound so sweet to be sure! EXTERIOR The new two stage lacquer paint has been buffed to a mirror-like finish revealing brilliant definition on a straight body. To prevent overspray, all lights and trim including the mirrors, door handles and locks together with both door panels were removed for the painting process. We painted this shark three times to get the finish as flawless as possible. This shark is from the Western U.S. and has a solid frame for it. The weather strip has all been replaced at various times and is soft to the touch. The brand new 245/60/15 BF Goodrich Radial TA tires look great on the original style factory issued rally wheels finishing the Stingray’s look handsomely. The spare tire carrier remains appropriately tucked away and looks fine. Muscle never sounds so good as with the beautiful chrome Hooker Header side pipes: the side pipes finish the Shark in an unmistakably classic look. One has to feel the sound in person to fully appreciate the effect that only can be compared to a modern day Viper. We love the sound as did the former owner who installed them and we hope you do too! The chrome has been replated around the car as necessary and remains shiny on otherwise straight bumpers. All of the lights are functional including the headlights and you may see the wipers working the in the video below. INTERIOR The beautiful interior has received recovered seats, door panels, dash, windshield trim, new carpet and seatbelt webbing. The avionic inspired instrumentation still looks great and all gauges remain functional. The original stereo still looks good but doesn’t play like the aftermarket stereo we hid in the rear compartment with MP3, iPod or iPhone jack ready and new speakers; we also installed an infrared cable with a remote for the stereo so tuning the stereo is no hassle when driving. The rear view mirror is new so you’ll quickly notice everyone look at you in the now neat and crisp reflection. The original shifter with positive lockout reverse and the original steering wheel together with the space age inspired gauges preserve the authentic look and feel. The rear compartment doors are functional but no longer work like new. The gauge vents are new with beautiful silver striping as original. We have the tiny emblems for the door handles on order (so small my technician misplaced them.) The original seat belts have new webbing. This interior is as close to the 1969 moon landing as any of us will ever get. MECHANICAL The factory optioned, original size rebuilt 350 cubic inch 350 horsepower powerplant (NOM) runs strongly under the hood of this beautifully detailed motor compartment bearing the polished and correctly optioned factory finned aluminum valve covers. Harnessed by the optioned and rebuilt factory four-speed transmission, this Stingray affords ample opportunity for shifting fun, (if they we’re all four speeds would we appreciate them as much?) We have done so much to the car that there is no way to produce an exhaustive list here but I shall try. The entire front suspension was disassembled, detailed and painted in satin black with the installation of a-arm bushings. The pinion snuber bushing is new as are the strut rod bushings and spring bushings. The rest of the bushings are good as we just had a four wheel alignment put on the car and she drives straight and rides even better now as we installed four new tires and four new shocks. The former owner was a performance nut so her motor was built to go fast, (he even added a finned aluminum oil pan!) only trouble was the motor was leaking oil, so we pulled it and completely serviced it with all new rings, bearings, brass and gaskets. Both the water pump and the alternator were replaced at the time. While the motor was out we detailed the compartment even more thoroughly than we had precendently. We also pulled the transmission servicing it with all new bearings, brass and seals before installing a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing for good measure. We also serviced the entire power steering system with rebuilt pump, control valve, ram and hoses. We installed a new aluminum radiator and fan clutch, the car stays very cool now. Of course at the time of motor reinstallation we used all new belts, hoses and header gaskets. Plus we had the original distributor rebuilt with a new brass gear for the tachometer but then we found an even better HEI tach drive distributor and upon immediate installation the Shark runs even better now. All of the brakes have been rebuilt/ serviced this year including rebuilt calipers and she stops great. The A/C will need a new evaporator and condenser to be functional. (We can service the system to make it blow cold for an additional approximate $900.) This shark is a strong runner that gives you butterflies behind the pedal.
