Vehicle Detail

Show quality vehicle! Matching numbers! Complete restoration! 90bhp, 1,582cc air-cooled horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine, twin Solex carburetors, four-speed manual gearbox in a rear-mounted transaxle, independent front suspension with parallel trailing arms, transverse laminated torsion bars and anti-roll bar, independent rear sustension with swing axles and transverse torsion bars, and four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes. Throughout its existence, the 356 underwent a thorough and systematic process of improvement, a hallmark of Porsche's renowned engineering that continues to this day. The Porsche horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine was unflappable and the suspension, long since refined and perfected, had rendered the 356's handling characteristics nearly perfect. Meanwhile, construction had matured until fit, finish and function set the standard to which other manufacterers strived. Making its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September 1959, the 356B had an updated body style with changes made to improve comfort, handling and drivability, although the available engine options remained unchanged. In 1962, 356B coupes incorporated the "T-6" body type, which most notably featured a squared-off front hood opening, and enlarged engine cover with two distinctive cooling grilles, and a revised roofline due to the use of a larger windshield and rear window, as well as a relocated gas filler opening. The 356B Super 90 Coupe I am presenting is an outstanding matching numbers example that features an older and complete restoration. The Porsche is an attractive white finished with chrome window frames, complimented by a light blue interior which includes new carpets. The dashpad, door panels, rear panels, rear seats and headliners are all in excellent conditon. With the exception of the interior clock, the gauges, switches, and knobs on the face of the dash are all in excellent condition. The origninal steering wheel and sunvisors are present and are also in excellent condition. The body is in excellent condition free from dings and dents. All exterior chrome is in EXCELLENT condition with no pitts or rust. Headlights (low and high beams), tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, license plate lights, horn and windshield wipers are functional. The radio is functional and antenna is not damaged. The starter and generator are running great. Speedometer, tachometer, oil temp and fuel gauges are working. Oil pressure and generator lights are functional. The car is powered by the desirable Super 90 engine with 90 brake horsepower, which, according to contemporary road tests, was an engine capable of top speeds approaching 125 mph. This very fine, nicely restored 1963 356B is certainly a superb and thrilling example, benefitting from the desirable Super 90 engine. The car idles and accelerates smoothly with excellent power. The car was recently tuned up (July 2010). The transmission shifts smoothly into every gear with no grinding or unusual noises. The ride is comfortable as the suspension is in very good condition. The brakes are also functioning excellent. The car has four (4) new Vredestein Sprint Classic tires (185/70, HR15, 89H). This is a final sale. The vehicle is sold as-is. Buyer is responsible for all shipping and all title transferring expences and sales tax if applicable.
