Vehicle Detail
1970 Ford Mustang Coupe bought in Oklahoma, OK the begining of this year, Pretty solid car from what I see rust is in usual spots but some usual spots don't have that much rust at all and could be patched rather then replaced/reskinned. Body: Here is a quick run down of what I know to be wrong with the body,Passenger side Strut Rod Bracket needs replaced damaged from towing in 1978,Floor pans need long both side passenger and drive side tunnel is in great condition, Back seat area needs small pin holes grinded/blasted then patched as when the blaster or grinder goes over I am sure the hole will get bigger but not by much, Hood driver side was crulled over when I bought the car slightly check pictures to see what I mean, Quarter panels are in a great condition and need very minor patch work on them a few small holes at the top of the wheel, Wheel houses are good, Roof has what appears to be a roofing hammer small dent in it with surface rust but looks recent maybe in the 90's, Trunk area needs a little patching at the forward of the car just above the fuel tank very small hole, Left side fender is/was damaged I replaced with a 69 fender doesn't line up with head light correctly (I got the fender for free what can you say), Battery tray needs replaced, Driver side shock tower seems to have been damaged and then welded poorly back together but functions I would replace it is only a $120 part, The passenger side door I think it is from a 1969 Mustang the hardware sticks a little for the door opening, and a dent just behind the driver door that could be pushed out pretty easy, That is really it for the body work needed, but there might be small "here and theres". There is no bondo on this car from my knowledge but keep in mind I have not taken to a media blast however it is easy to tell with bondo that has been sitting out in the sun for a few years and there is none that I have seen to make it into a driver condition. Mechanical: The car does not currently run due to starter failing when I put it back together Yesterday as the time of this posting but starter did work before I took apart original engine, however the engine was rebuilt last year in October I have documents of its rebuild that will come with the car, I rebuilt the transmission completly replacing and problem part I took all seals and had them installed at a local shop to ensure no damage was done to them, it has the complete conversion kit minus the throttle cable for an AOD conversion which runs around $500 for the kit. The Engine is a 1979 302 with 351 heads to get rid of EGR, the transmisison is a 1983 AOD from what I was told was a 1983 Lincoln but this I could not confirm, Heater controls do not work I have been spending a large amount of time trying to find the source of the problem but I could not find, prolly needs replaced due to the wiring all checking out with a volt meter, The steering column is not from this car due to it having a spot on the cover that has a shifter hole however the wiring does currently work through it so you can still start it from the column and turn signal, also with the AOD conversion the single exhaust that came stock gets in the way of the shifter so a dual exhaust would have to be put on and original exhaust is not hooked up but is there. Glass: The glass in the car is mostly good the drive side all glass is good, the back window is good, the Passenger side only the back window is good the door is to big and over laps the back window when shut as per earlier I think is a 69 door glass, and the windshield is cracked along the bottom, Interior: The interior is complete but will need restored, I put a new gauge cluster circuit board in it so the gauges work old one was burnt, The only thing missing is the radio, head liner is ripped in the back not sure if it can be repaired but with them being so cheap it doesn't really matter, the sunvisor rod where it screws into the top of the ceiling is cracked and will need a new one on the passenger side, There maybe screws missing due to the car was started to be disassembled but the previous owners son years before I purchased. Misc: Alright some things about the car, it has A/C and the compressor is in it, it has new power steering pump and all lines are new but return line didn't hook up yet, I am not 100% sure but I think the radiator is not for the car looks like it but the holes to bolt it to the radiator support do not line up however its an old radiator so I am sure anyone would replace, All lines and fitting are there, Windshield wipers work and spray works, 302 has edelbrock Performer intake with edelbrock 1406 carburetor and air cleaner, I still have the original air cleaner also, has brand new 164 tooth 28oz flywheel, brand new oil pressure switch, brand new oil filter/change, Ford Racing valve covers, repainted most of the front brackets and fan, brand new belts, brand new heater hose fitting in the manifold, brand new battery still under warranty, Brand new gas tank never seen gas yet, Brand new sending unit in gas tank, brand new steel lines from tank to pump fuel lines. Thats about all I can think of at this time. I reserve the right to end this auction as I have it listed locally, if buy it now is used I will use the extra money to replace the floor pans, stut rod bracket, the shock tower(but will take time to get in, by that I mean for me to get from parts store), and do as many patch work as I can without having it media blasted before you come pick up to save you money (unless you ask me not to), Also if buy it now is used a Cragar SST rims and firehawk tires will go with the car along with the stock tires if not the stock tires will be used with cruddy tires, I will help with shipping any way I can, If there are any other questions please contact me at 785-260-3409 Names Kevin or email me if you rather I check my mail everyday many times a day, The car is on a military installation and I am in the Military I am in no means hurting for money as most people are just trying to sell before I move from Kansas, Thanks for looking and happy bidding. I will also sell much cheaper without engine and transmission if anyone needs for parts car. Would also trade out right for a 69 Mustang fastback project that is in same or worse but still ok condition.
