Vehicle Detail

Bike History: I purchased this 1982 GS-1100- G Suzuki Motorcycle from a co-worker named John Fisher in July of 1985 in South Bend, IN.. When I bought it, it had less than 1000 miles on it. John had purchased this 1982 model year bike brand new out of the crate in April 1985, for a significant discount off of list. Since it was the fastest production motorcycle built in 1982, he quickly decided that it was too much bike for him and too dangerous. I bought it off oh him 3 -4 months after he purchased it new. There is documentation to support this, including the original invoice from the bike shop where Fisher purchased it. It currently has 7700 actual miles on the bike. This was not my first bike. I had a Honda CB- 750 -4 cyl for 15 years before I bought the Suzuki, so I was well versed on the care and feeding of Japanese bikes. I meticulously cared for this bike. The oil was changed every winter before storage, with plugs pulled, a squirt of oil into the spark plugs holes, and gas drained from the carbs. It was tuned and timed every few years, most recently by the capable hands of Bill, the owner of Fast Bike Engineering here in Homer Glen, Ill. Bill, is helping me sell the bike. Until 3 years ago I rode the bike a few hundred miles every summer, but then it was put in storage and it had not been started in 3 years. When preparing it to be sold,(Saturday 12/4/10) the bike started immediately after pulling it out of storage. Over the last 3 years it has been stored and not started. From lack of attention the aluminum and chrome has started showing some signs of weathering/pitting. The front fender also has some minor scratches(see pic`s). There is a minor dent about the size of a dime on the right front top of the gas tank where I improperly installed a fairing, and when I turned, the fairing mount hit the tank. I since removed the fairing. The bike had one minor spill at low speed during a quick stop in an oily intersection. The bike and I fell over without hitting anything and damage was purely cosmetic. There was a broken left turn signal that has since been replaced, and minor scrape marks that show on the bottom of the lower left dyno cover. That was the only damage in the history of the bike. This is a great motorcycle. I wouldn’t be selling it except that I work long hours, have young kids, and have reconciled myself to the reality that my biking days are over for another 5 years. This is too nice a bike to leave tarped in the garage. It deserves better. Pay-Pal is the preferred method of Payment !! Buyer is responsible for Pick-up and Shipping !
