Vehicle Detail
More pictures available at http://s1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb477/countachkid/ I purchased this car around 2004-05 as a project. It had sticky carbs from sitting and no brakes. When I purchased the car there was no previous service history knowledge or records from current or previous owners. The only thing he could tell me was that the cams have been reground for more horsepower and the car had been repainted around 1996. For the first couple years I had the car I spent time here and there rebuilt the carbs and the entire break system. I put GTO Wheels on it as well as an Electromotive ignition system and countless small parts detailed below. I performed a major service and have the receipts from the parts I have purchased including belts and bearings. I have all receipts for everything I’ve bought since I’ve owned it. I have spent thousands of dollars and put in hundreds of hours on this car and originally had no intention to sell it. But with the economy I am forced to sell one of my toys. I’m trying to be as detailed in the description as I can so you know what you are getting. This car is not for everyone but will be a perfect driver or GTO conversion for someone who likes to toy with cars as I do. It will never be a show car so if that is what you are looking for this isn’t for you. I have just moved and should have the car ready to view at my new home around the 10th of December in East Palatka, FL. I haven’t driven it for a couple months so I am going to go through it this week to make sure I didn’t miss anything. If you purchase the vehicle and feel that I have misrepresented it in any way I will refund 100% of you money minus any delivery costs. Please note that any faults listed below will not be acceptable for a refund. I will assist with shipping if needed at your expense. If you have never owned a Ferrari please know what you are getting into. If you intereseted in this car and have questions about Ferrari ownership I've owned a couple so i'll be glad to discuss it with you. They are a different animal when it comes to cars and are a great deal of fun. Please let me know if you have any questions. Drive train With the rebuilt carbs and the electromotive ignition you don’t even need to choke the car. I haven't adjusted the idle since putting in the ignition so when it is warm it is a little high. It runs fine but I’m sure can be tuned better than it is currently. I have a syncrometer for the carbs that I will include along with a several sets of jets. Clutch is good and the transmission shifts smooth after it is warm. There is no smog equipment for the car and I never had it. The exhaust is straight exhaust with no catalytic converters as well. The sound absorber in the air cleaner was also removed for better air flow and sound. As with any Ferrari there is a very small oil leak from the pan. Belts and bearings were last changed in the Summer of 2007. Body The car was repainted in 1996. It has since been garage kept and the paint has great color and isn’t faded at all. I’ve posted detailed photos with all of the small flaws. Many of which would not even be mentioned but I want you to know what you are buying. From 10 feet the car looks great. The body has a couple of small rust bubbles under the paint but nothing major. It also has some minor chips and dings all photographed. There is a small chip on the inside of the windshield but can be repaired. It is in a spot that you don’t really notice. Driver’s side weather stripping needs to be replaced. The front spoiler needs some touch up from rocks. See pictures for details. Rear bonnet struts need to be replaced. When they repainted the car for some reason they drilled another set of holes for the rear emblem and put it higher. I put a chip filler here and also on the left front corner panel to prevent any rust until I could get it to a body shop. There are pictures of both in the album. Interior The door panels were redone (including the pockets) and I had started working on replacing all the little things. I had some very high end floor mats made for it. The lever bezels were replaced with the metal CNC ones that Verrell made. I think I spend over $400 for these and the labels. The labels have never been installed. I also have a new plate for the A/C that has never been installed since the console refinish was my next item to tackle. The Dash is in decent shape. Driver’s side seat needs to be redone but passenger seat is not bad. I was going to replace the carpet but with the mats you don’t have to if you don’t want. There is also a piece of mirror missing from the rear view mirror. I have new trim rings for the door locks that aren’t shown in the picture. One of the door lock plungers was broken when the panels were redone and hasn’t been replaced yet. I’m trying to get a hold of one now. Electrical Car had a lot of electrical problems when I first got it and many were cured with Birdman’s fuse boxes. This isn’t to say that it is perfect now. The turn signals stopped working recently but I’m pretty sure it is just the flasher. Both windows work I replaced one of the window motors and have a spare I will include with the car along with all the original parts which worked as well. The switch for the passenger window on the driver’s side doesn’t work but never got around to looking at it. Brake and reverse lights work. Radio was wired to an amp and doesn’t work properly and speakers need to be replaced. I never worried about this because you aren’t supposed to listen to a radio in a Ferrari. I never touched it so if you want to replace it the wiring is still there. Dash lights work but are dim as most are. I also have all brand new set of lights for the instrument panel I will include. Brakes When I first got the car the breaks didn’t work at all. I didn’t take any chances and rebuilt almost the entire system. They now work as well as they are supposed to being from 1979. Work included · Braided stainless steel brake lines · New master cylinder · New reservoir · Rebuilt booster by White Post in VA · Rebuilt proportioning valve · New Pads A/C The A/C system works but will need to be charged and have a belt installed. I removed it when I put in the electromotive and never put one back on since it needed to be replaced.
