Two things make this particular car better than most New Beetles for sale today; the addition of a turbocharger and the subtraction of a roof. Everybody knows Turbo Beetles are swift but when stellar performance comes in a highly optioned package that can conveniently go topless in seconds, it's easy to see why these superbly engineered convertibles are in such high demand. Even among this much desired group, the blue beauty before you today has even more going for it. Purchased new locally, this Volkswagen has seen consistent factory service its entire life. The result is, spectacular paint, a damage free body, under the hood, underneath and everywhere else, this car looks new - the way you want the cream-puff you're buying to look. Before opening the door, you know you're going to like what you see. That's how it is when a car is really right and it does not take an expert to know that what you are feeling is justified. It also doesn't hurt that the powerful car of your dreams has the killer options you want. The Monsoon sound system with built-in cross-over, subwoofer and nine speakers can probably boom a hole through the unblemished canvas top and the quiet reassurance of dual stage front airbags, side airbags and Automatic Rollover protection means there's no trade-off for safety with this convertible. Tilt/telescopic steering wheel, 6-way manual adjusting seats and leather upholstery are things you might expect but how cool is a six-speed automatic transmission? It never seems to be in the wrong gear and the turbo advantage can be felt the instant you step on the gas - this bad boy moves. 17 inch alloy wheels wearing tires you will not be replacing any time soon, power four wheel disc brakes with ABS and power nearly every dang thing else all add up to a high performance German convertible that offers no compromises no matter what may already be in your garage. Has it been taken care of? Yes. Is it cute? Your husband/son or best friend's nephew won't call it that. Is it fast? I'll just say this; lots of words will come to mind the first time you floor this 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle GLS Turbo convertible. "Cute" will not be one of them. It's a face we all think we've seen before but this time, the engine is in front. (a turbocharged engine, by the way) Apparently, all the driveway slopes in this New Beetle's past were gentle. (no scrapes to be seen and check out the rubber left on these tires) Well, the top stack is a little cleaner on this new iteration but they've captured the original charisma don't you think? Is that a tree in your front seat or are you just happy to go topless on a fine autumn day? The New Beetle may be the only car in the world that looks exactly the same with the top or down. (and just as cute hot too) Some people care, some don't, but the go-fast crowd won't miss the Turbo badge on your rump. You've probably already noticed the beautifully straight body and stunning paint so, no need to mention it here. Dark tint makes sense; as much as you want the sun in with the top down, when you put the top up you probably want more sun out. Yeah, they painted the doors in here just like the old days but unlike the original, this modern interior is not cramped, cold and noisy. Tilt/telescopic steering, 6-way heated adjustable seats and a Monsoon sound system powerful enough to push open a door if you're not careful. (always buckle-up and keep your doors locked) Round cluster may be a fitting tribute to the old design but the way this car can spin a speedometer is very much unlike the old design. I don't remember a flower vase in the old Bug but then again, I don't remember stability control, multi-setting heated seats or a defroster that actually works either. Volkswagen Bugs didn't used to have an engine under their front hood, did they? True 'dat but they also did not have a turbocharger, intercooler and 150 horsepower.
