Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1987 Mercedes Benz 300SDL For Sale is my trusty Mercedes Benz. I have thoroughly enjoyed this timeless classic Mercedes for the past 5 years. It is now time for it to go on to someone else who cares for it. I just have too many vehicles and this one has to go. Before you read this description of my car, please check my feedback. I have over 2000 positives. I purchased this Mercedes at a new car dealership in Ft. Lauderdale, FL back in 2005 as a new car trade-in. It was a one owner South Florida Car, previously owned by a real estate executive. I live in NORTHERN Louisiana 309 miles north of New Orleans and hurricane Katrina, about 20 miles from Arkansas. The car was here at my home, in my garage during the hurricane, so there has never been any flood damage or any other damage to this car. The paint is the original paint that came on the car when I purchased it. I believe it has been repainted once. It is very bright and shiny with no trace of body damage anywhere on the car. It is a very high quality paint job, just like factory with no runs, no drips and no errors. It has a clean CarFax that shows no damage (the reason that I bought it from south Florida) or other negative events. The body is arrow straight with only one slight imperfection at the inside corner of the front bumper, which has been there since I’ve owned the car. Honestly, you can’t really see it. It is shown in the pictures. There is no rust or body damage. This car has gotten over 28 miles per gallon on some fill-ups, but totally honest everyday fuel mileage (the way I drive) is more along the lines of 24-25 miles per gallon. I usually cruise on the interstate at 78-80mph, which is the “sweet spot” for this car. I have driven it from coast to coast and would trust it to go anywhere. I have used it to help me keep the mileage down on my Ford Excursion. For the model year, the mileage is very low, original and correct at 119,900+. I have been as meticulous as a person can be with scheduled maintenance (and preventive maintenance), having the oil and filters changed out every 3,000 miles or less and taking the car to a quality European car repair shop for EVERYTHING that I suspected that might be wearing or might be about to wear out. I have had the transmission rebuilt a few thousand miles ago at a highly respected transmission shop in Monroe, LA (Edwards Transmissions) and it shifts very firmly with no “slop” or engine revving between shifts. This is the way I asked them to set it up, so if you don’t like the firm shifts, you can have any transmission shop adjust the modulator valve for a “lighter” shift. It has almost new Michelin X radials with approximately 90% of the tread left. I have also had Holmes Mercedes in Shreveport completely rebuild the front end ($3995.00). The car now has a brand new set of Bilstein shocks on it and it drives and rides like a dream. After the front end rebuild and the cost at the Mercedes dealership in Shreveport, I have taken the car to Schuler Autohaus in Fayetteville, AR (an EXCELLENT Mercedes shop with expert factory trained personnel) for all other maintenance. Every option on the car (including the clock and sunroof) works the way it did when it came from the factory, except the seat heaters. The original Mercedes leather had cracked over the years, so I purchased a new set of leather seat covers from Mercedes and had them installed. My short sightedness caused me to purchase seat covers without electric seat heaters, but that is no problem if you have a garage. The original wood is in excellent condition on the dash, as is the perfect factory dash pad and carpets. The original Becker AM/FM tape player has been removed (It comes with the car) in favor of a top of the line Pioneer with XM. I will leave the subscription with the car so you can enjoy it. The telescoping steering wheel, power headrests, cruise control, Climate Control Air Conditioning, ALL power windows, vacuum central locking system, ABS brakes all work as they were engineered to. The front and rear brakes have new brake pads. I am including a brand new matching set of Mercedes Benz floor mats, which have never been used in the car, as well. I removed them from the package to make pictures of them for this ad. They will be in the trunk. This is a 24 year old classic car. It may have some imperfections from normal use that I could have missed, but I have outlined everything I know about the car as best as I can. I have 100% perfect feedback. Unfortunately, the car does not have a warranty, even though it looks as if it should have. Once again, I would trust this classic Mercedes Benz to go ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE. You just don’t find them this clean every day. I have the reserve set at a very fair price so please don’t ask me what it is. That would not be fair to other bidders. I will be happy to pick you up at the airport in Monroe, LA or Shreveport, LA when you win the auction or I will meet you anywhere in the U.S. with the car for a dollar a mile (remember, I have to have a vehicle to go home in, so I will have to bring an extra). If you have any questions, please email or call me at 318-547-9030. Good luck with your bidding! On Dec-01-10 at 11:27:21 PST, seller added the following information: New Interstate Battery just installed 12/1/10. On Dec-03-10 at 13:31:34 PST, seller added the following information: Thanks to a bidder, I add this bit of info. They wrote: "This model year had problems with an emissions component called a trap oxidizer. It was upstream of the turbo, and as little bits of it broke, they damaged the turbo and mostly the #1 cylinder. There was a recall, and lots of cars had the service done. I called our local dealership and they were able to verify from the VIN that the trap oxidizer was removed and any service necessary was performed in 1996 (can't remember date exactly, maybe 98)." The turbo was not working when I purchased the car and I had it replaced with a new one.
