Fresh 1310cc Rivergate Engine 1965 MG Midget NO RESERVE EBAY AUCTION 1965 MG Midget Fresh Rivergate Engine (1310 cc) & Other Modifications Rust Free / Affordable Running / Driving California Project ___________________________________ NOTE: Our listings sometimes get rather lengthy. However, we continually hear from out of state / out of country buyers (the majority of our clients) that they prefer the level of detail that we provide. However, if you are not prepared to read multiple pages of description, we ask that you review the "Specifications" on the car along with viewing the photos. Also, if you'd prefer, please call us at 925-846-1451 and we'll gladly discuss the MG Midget and the FREE yellow parts car that comes with the blue car. We'll also be glad to discuss any questions that you may have over the telephone including those pertaining to our "Buy it Now" policies. Yes, the MG's can be purchased prior to the end of the eBay auction. Again, give us a call for details. ALSO, PLEASE NOTE: EACH TIME WE LIST A VEHICLE ON EBAY WE RECEIVE COMMENTS THAT THERE ARE NO PHOTOS OF THE INTERIOR, ENGINE, TRUNK, etc. THERE ARE LARGE NUMBER OF PHOTOS (INCLUDIGN THE PARTS CAR) OF ALL AREAS OF THE CAR BUT, WHEN YOU REACH WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE LAST PHOTO, YOU WILL NEED TO SCROLL TO VIEW THE REMAINING PHOTOS. IF YOU ARE STILL UNABLE TO SEE THE PHOTOS, PLEASE CALL US AT 925-846-1451 AND WE WILL PROVIDE A LINK FOR THE PHOTOS (IT IS A VIOLATION OF EBAY POLICY TO LIST THE URL ON THE EBAY LISTING). HISTORY We owned this particular car in the 2001 / 2002 time frame and, in fact, entered the car in the California Melee one of those years. At that time, the car had a tired 1098cc engine that we managed to, well, "grenade" the engine during the event. It's a long story but we'll omit the details to save ourselves further embarrassment. The car was (and remains) a very solid California car with virtually no rust and is finished in its factory original blue, a color (shade) rarely seen on the mid-60's Midgets / Sprites. It was lacking some of its trim (and still is) but it had considerable potential (and still does!) when we sold it to its new owner 7+ years ago. He purchased the car with the hope of bringing the car back to its former glory. His plan was to install a street / race motor and make the car a fast road car with minimal equipment / creature comforts. Unfortunately, as a result of his personal circumstances and the economy, things have changed and, as a result, we purchased the car. Since then it has remained in our showroom and we have debated about using the engine for our personal Classic Cars Ltd. Morris Minor van. However, we have come to the conclusion that the MG is too good cannibalized and that our Morris is too original to alter its originality. So, the MG is being offered as a project with a wide range of possible uses. Please keep in mind that while this car falls into the project category, it is currently licensed and registered (Clear CA. title) in California. The MG is not street legal at this time. The car is being sold as an off-road vehicle since it does not have the required bumpers and other, miscellaneous street equipment. However, we have a parts car that has many of the needed "bits" necessary to bring the MG must closer to fully street legal (more on that later). We see a number of possibilities for the MG Midget. With a few improvements the car could become a regular, usable street car. In fact, the cars previous owner was driving the car "As-Is" despite the cars technical lack of compliance to a few California DMV codes. The addition of a front and rear bumper (or bumperettes of some kind), turn signals and seat belts and wipers would make the car legal. If you're looking for more creature comforts, the addition of some of the rear carpeting (the front carpet is in place) and addition of a top frame / convertible top would make the car more usable/drivable, especially in areas where the weather is less predictable than her in Northern California. Going in the opposite direction, the car could very easily be converted to a solo (autocross) car with some suspension "mods", roll bar and other safety upgrades. With additional effort, what about a full blown vintage race car? In its current condition (with the "street upgrades") mentioned above, the car would make a great road / rally car as we learned during our California Melee experience. With this fresh, higher horsepower engine the car should provide considerable reliability and be an absolutely blast to drive. PURCHASING A COLLECTOR VEHICLE - THINGS TO CONSIDER As always, we recommend that you carefully review the seller's background of any collector car being sold over the Internet. We believe that it is important to ask yourself a number of questions including, but not limited to: - How long have they been in business? - How much experience do they have with collector cars? - How many positive collector car vehicle sales have completed (positive EBay feedback)? - How detailed/complete is the description of the vehicle? - Do the photos show details of the interior, exterior, top, chrome, etc. or are they simply "Glamour Shots" taken from a distance? - Does the seller have a surety bond to protect the financial transaction? - What about insurance, licensing by the state, and a local business license? - Does the seller (if a business) have any DMV (Motor Vehicle) complaints and/or other history of legal action, grievances? - Do they enjoy a favorable local and national/international reputation? - Can the seller assist with funding sources, transport and out of state/country sales?
