Vehicle Detail

1971 Buick Skylark-Custom Convertible Here is a great driver or excellent foundation for your restoration! NO RESERVE! See all pics below. This 1971 Buick Skylark-Custom convertible is equipped with a 350 4 barrel engine, auto tranny, power convertible top, AIR CONDITIONING, factory tinted glass, arm rest bench seat, power steering/brakes, sport/rally wheels, etc. It was originally a gold colored car, but was repainted white at some point. The paint job is low quality and will need cut and buffed to be presentable or repainted for show quality. The interior is good for it's age, but the front seat has tears on the passenger side and will need carpet, seat covers, etc during restoration. The original radio was removed and a Blaupunkt receiver was installed with holes cut for speakers all the way around. The rear side panels were set up for 6x9 speakers, but they have 6.5" round speakers in place now. The steering wheel is not correct for the car. The driver's side rocker molding is not correct. The body looks dry and solid with little evidence of body filler and no major cancerous rust. There is the typical rust spots at the wheel openings, but all in all the sheet metal looks quite solid. The car looks like it had factory or dealer installed undercoating which preserved the underside of the car well. The trunk looks solid with no through holes or heavy pitting that I have seen. The top will need replaced because it has some small tears, and the rear window has come loose from the top material at the bottom and sides. The power top goes up and down fine, but should be cleaned and lubed to be perfect. The windshield will need replaced due to some cracks. The engine is in great mechanical condition and doesn't smoke, knock and has plenty of power. The transmission is in good mechanical shape. I haven't seen any major leaks from the drive train. The carburetor used to work flawlessly, but when I pulled the car out of storage today, it ran great then started to run out of fuel. Either bad gas is to blame or the carb got something stuck in one of the orifices, it does still run and drive, but runs out of fuel. The a/c pump is not hooked up and never has been since I owned the car. It looks like all the air conditioning components are intact minus the belt. The odometer reads approx "07999" which I would assume is 107999 not 207999, but I don't know for sure. This car has been off the road for around 15 years. I was planning on doing a complete restoration on the car but my family become too much of a priority in the last few years that I can't see myself getting to this car in a timely manner. Unfortunatley for me the car must go, but hopefully it will get the attention and restoration it deserves. If you need more pictures please let me know. THE FINE PRINT: A deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours of the auctions end and full payment must be made before or at the time the car is picked up. The car must be picked up within 10 days unless other arrangements are made in advance. All arrangements for shipping must be made by the buyer. I am available to help load the car, but you must contact me with the details ASAP. I have a clear title in the previous owner's name and a bill of sale from him to me, you will receive the title and 2 bills of sale, one from him to me and one from me to you. The car runs and drives, but with the current carb issue I would strongly suggest it be trailered not driven. It will drive onto a transport truck. This car is almost 40 years old and that should be taken into consideration when bidding, it will need attention in all areas, paint, body, interior etc. This car is sold AS-IS. On Nov-23-10 at 13:54:21 PST, seller added the following information: Attention bidders with less than 5 feedback: Please contact me before bidding. This is a binding contract and you will be expected to follow through with this transaction if you are the winning bidder. I only emphasize this point because of a recent problem with a new ebayer. Thank you.
