Here is a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500, short bed, 2 door, extended cab, one family owned, pick-up truck. I bought it new in San Diego and drove it there for 9 years, then sold it to my son and 3 years later he sold it to my daughter when he joined the Marines. I am NOT selling this as a perfect vehicle and I will give an honest assessment of it. The main reason for us selling it is it has a stalling problem that none of our small town mechanics can seem to take care of and has become unreliable in the sense that I don't want my daughter driving around in it. I believe it is a problem with the radiator because it runs hot and a heat sensor makes it stall at a certain temp. Never got hot enough to steam the engine. Compression is fine and no head damage was found when run through testing by a few mechanics. Fairly sure it's NOT the water pump because that was replaced just about 2 years ago. It leaks NO radiator fluid at all nor does it use any coolant. NO oil leaks at all. Engine is tight. The last mechanic said the radiator needs "rodding". That may or may not be. It is able to be started up instantly when it cools down and continue on. When moving, it performs like it should. Basically, I am selling this as a parts or project truck and I want it understood that it does have issues. It drives, but I recommend it being towed or flat bedded. Ask questions now because I don't want any boo-hooing. I will gladly tell you what you want to know. Interested parties are welcome to inspect it or I can provide a phone number and additional pictures. Now I will tell you about it.......... It has NEVER been in an major accident, but has some body damage due to inexperienced young drivers (and their friends bumping into it with thier vehicles). Most I have pushed and pulled out so none of them affect the opperation of it and from a distance it looks pretty good. (pics of truck bed show most of them) I will list whats wrong first: Cruise control does not function. Automatic door locks do not function (switch problem) but they do opperate fine with keys or manually. Passenger window does not function due to a switch problem. Radiator may need cleaning (rodding). Water pump was replaced not too long ago. Back bumper has damage as seen in pictures and bed has some body dents. Grille has 1 broken mounting point inside. It does not affect the looks at all and is still held on securly. NOTE: This truck does NOT have power seats of any kind. This Ebay form wouldn't allow me to state that fact and insisted it has a front power seat. IT DOES NOT! Now the features: Paint is healthy with no clear coat damage at all. Does have minor chips and scrapes here and there as is to be expected from a pickup truck. NO body cancer. Came from California. Has push button overdrive, nice CD player, 50% tread on tires with factory mag wheels, excellent factory spare and jacking kit, drives straight and brakes well, smooth transmission, nice interior with no tares in upholstery but headliner has separated just a bit by the windshield, A/C and Heating still work great, fairly new battery, fairly new fuel pump, good glass all around with sliding rear window, all lights work, is somewhat drivable (short distances), clear title, AND I do have the tow package that was on it at one time but got removed by my son (that is included). Still has the brake box inside the truck. (I can't guarantee the brake box functions, but most likely does) The trailer seen in the pictures was never towed by this truck and frankly it never towed anything heavier than a utility trailer occasionally. Honestly, we have taken care of and maintained this truck and despite all I have written, has been an excellent truck. This truck will be sold "as is". Please keep that in mind.
