Here we have a great chance to get into an open car for less money. This is a matching numbers 1962 Porsche 356B Cabriolet that has been pulled out of dry storage after a short slumber. Last on the road in 2001, this beautiful car was enjoyed until its loving owner -- a North Carolina tobacco farmer -- passed away, at which time it was parked by his son. The car came from the factory in the rare and stunning color of Oslo Blue. It has since been repainted a lighter blue. The original engine was rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago. We had the engine tuned by known engine guru Dick Hyland (see video of the engine running on the stand). A tremendous amount of metal work has been done on the car including replacement of the floor pan, new rear seat area, and torsion area, so the heavy lifting has been taken care of. New pans! What makes this car special is the rare original color of Oslo Blue, and the fact that so much of the originality remains intact thanks to a loving owner -- the hood is UNKINKED, the key is still in the shifter lock, the radio was never replaced with a stereo, and the original matching numbers engine was rebuilt rather than replaced! While the paint shines nicely and will look great going down the road, there are some bubbles forming in the paint, along with a couple of notable chips. The top is showing its age. The brakes held pressure and released, but one of the rear lines is leaking so the brakes should probably be gone through since the car sat unused. We suggest going through the systems before this car is put back on the road. There is work to do before you take it to the meet, but what a great opportunity for an easy refresh!
