This Bus can be driven & enjoyed now. Needs nothing mechanically. I recently did a 500 mile trip that included highway & mountain driving with zero issues. 1979 VW Transporter. Case code on motor indicates that it’s an 1800 not the 2000 that it should be. Also has round port heads & 75-78 heater boxes. Fuel injection intact & working perfectly. Runs & drives perfectly. All electrics and gauges work properly. All of the following has been done… 1,000 miles on the new & correct Hanhook A008 tires. New brakes, drums, rotors, calipers & rubber lines. New shocks. Steering box replaced with a better used one (1/2” of play now instead of 3”) New throttle cable, battery, oil cooler, double relay, fuel pump, fuel regulator, air flow meter & injectors. All fuel lines replaced. Has MP3 compatible stereo, CB radio & running lights. Couch folds out to make bed. Seats & bed/couch are non VW but can easily be put back to stock if you want. Original front & rear seat included. Odometer reads 59,000 but true miles unknown. I would assume 159,000 Downside, usual Bus rust on dog legs, under sliding door & under tail lights. Very easy to repair & replacement metal is cheap & available from many sources. Windshield is cracked on passenger side. (Never bothered me any had no intentions of replacing) One of the sliding windows is plexiglas but I have a good used one just never installed. Transmission works perfectly but shifter is sloppy. Needs bushings. When gas gauge reads empty you have about a ½ tank left. Oh, I will consider trade for 1960 to 1974 Detriot iron in similar condition
