Vehicle Detail

I have run out of time to make my beloved 2001 Suzuki GS500 road-worthy again. After blowing the engine several years ago, I have installed a 2004 engine, for which I paid $500 two years ago, in the frame but just can't get the darn thing to work. I will be moving before the end of the year and don't have the strength to move this project to another house. This is a great deal for the right person since you get not only a working 2004 engine but also the original engine for rebuilding. Please let me know if you have any questions on the bike or anything included in the lot. Details on the bike:Frame and body is in straight and good condition with only 16,115 miles. I am the original owner, having purchased it from Fun Bike Center in San Diego on 2/11/02.Color is dark blue.Title is clear (non-salvage) and in hand. It is up to date on California DMV fees, so you won’t get slapped with exorbitant DMV back-fees & penalties when you go to register it; it is currently registered as a “Non-Operational Vehicle.”I have all service records on hand. Installed Upgrades: 2004 engine is installed and all connections made. Lights do not come on when key is turned, so it will need to be gone through to ensure all connections are made properly, wires are connected, battery is charged, etc.Shortly after purchase, I installed progressive front springs and Kat 600 rear shock. It has new-ish front and rear Metzler tires. I found the work order listing the install date for the tires, but for some reason Fun Bike Center doesn't record mileage during service appointments, so I can't tell how many miles I put on them.I installed a new sealed Wal-Mart battery earlier in the year with the hopes of getting it running again, so that's another new part that will be included in the sale. It has the upgraded SV650 rear-view mirrors. I also installed a unique dual headlight unit that I sourced from the UK.Airbox contains a Uni foam filter.Original carbs have Factory Pro stage 1 jet kit installed. The 2004 engine came with the newer carbs, so those will be included in the sale as well.GSX front pegs replace the original (concrete-like) pegs. Other non-installed parts that will be included: new chain and fresh can of new chain lubenew 15T front sprocketClymer service manualanything else GS-related that I come across between now and when the new owner takes it off my hands The Original Engine The original engine last ran in October of 2005. According to San Diego House of Motorcycles: “Valve cover leaks. Shiftshaft seal leaks. Neutral switch O-ring needs replaced. Recommend valve adjust and spark plugs when valve cover comes off to replace leaking valve cover. Oil level was low and black. Tech noticed a slight tick in the bottom end due to the low amount of oil. Left exhaust valve needs to be replaced- thinnest shim will not fit and gain any clearance.” This is be a good project for someone, but it's clear that I am no longer that person. Pickup/ShippingI will assist with whatever shipping method the winning bidder arranges on his/her own and at his/her expense. I may be able to assist in San Diego County delivery at no extra cost if my friend with a pickup truck and ramps is free that day. I will be traveling for Thanksgiving from 11/21 - 11/27, so transfer of ownership must take place either before 11/21 or after 11/28.
