The year is 1960! This was a new decade where the American Automobile would take another big leap in the new designs, and performance. In 1960, J.F.K. was elected President of the United States, and the number one music performers for the same year were, Frankie Avalon, Elvis Presley, Chubby Checkers, and Ray Charles. Here we have today is a 1960 Ford Thunderbird Hardtop! This was the last of the “Square Birds”. They only made this body style for three years, beginning in 1958 to 1960. The 1960 Thunderbird used the same body as the previous two years, with only trim updating. Again, this was the LAST of the SQUARE BIRDS, with the highly sculptured fender and body lines. Three taillights were used per side, instead of two, as in previous years. The most significant change for the 1960 was the addition of a manually-operated sun roof and 2,536 cars were produced with this option….. The 1960 Thunderbird was also a very expensive car for its day, with a big price tag of $3755.00 for the hardtop, and a whopping $4222.00 for the convertible! Yes, the 1960 Ford Thunderbird is probably the MOST DESIREABLE square bird in todays market! Now on this particular Thunderbird, the color code is B, which is called ( Kingston Blue), the transmission code is 4, which is the (Cruise-O-Matic), and the axle code is 3, which is the (3.10:1 ratio). This has the standard 352 cubic inch 4 barrel V8 300 horsepower. The car runs and drives well, but will need to be restored in order to be a real perfect car. These are indeed rare, and you really don’t see these Fords anymore. The car will need some work, but you really can drive this, and restore it at the same time!
