A vintage icon with this much star power speaks its own language and there will never be a shortage of aggressive buyers willing to do what it takes to possess such a rare classic. Rare indeed and in the kind of rare condition serious buyer likes to see with a straight body, dazzling paint and terrific exterior bright work. All glass is superb, the lights shine strong and when was the last time you saw a set of authentic Shelby 10-spoke wheels in any condition, let alone the spectacular specimens on this bad boy? You better believe they come with wheel locks and nobody's going to be stealing any thunder either when (or where) this rumbling rocket arrives. This A-code 2+2 was produced, when the public's reaction to Ford's sales phenomenon was just beginning to heat up beyond everybody's wildest expectation, at the vast San Jose assembly plant on September 11, 1964. (scheduled build date) The Poppy Red beauty that rolled off the line that day was the very desirable Fastback body style equipped exactly how future collectors would want their Mustangs; with a 4-barrel carburetor and a 4-speed transmission. Today with no rust, beautiful buy-me-red paint and sporting two 10-inch wide stripes from pan to pan, you're seeing one of the straightest, original 4-barrel early Fastbacks available. Throw in a set of spectacular Shelby 10-spoke alloy wheels (in spectacular condition, by the way) and you've got a one-of-a-kind Mustang that is as good looking as it is rare. Rare too, describes an interior so unbelievably red and in such stunning condition, it feels almost like a new car. Not a crack on the dash, fantastic door panels, headliner, carpet and supple smooth upholstery that literally pulls you in behind the wheel and says, "your search for a head turning classic is over, welcome home." The 289 fires immediately and pulls strong with no hiccups or poor behavior. The 4-speed shifts beautifully and it only takes a short trip to see why Mustangs with this transmission sell so easily. Other things that make an easy sale is a quality engine bay you'll be proud to show and an undercarriage that clearly indicates the craftsmanship that went into a car that was already rust and damage free to begin with. You won't soon find another 1965 Ford Mustang A-code 4-speed Fastback in this kind of condition with an engine this strong, an interior this spectacular and paint this red. You don't have to read any of this to know this is a car worthy for you to own. Just look at the pictures and win the auction. (new filler tube connected to a new fuel tank too) This is a great car with a straight body, shiny paint and reliable engine. You should buy it. Look at the panel fit on this bad boy, and those Shelby wheels? You should buy this car. Ever see anything redder or more spectacular? Think you should buy this car? (see that tiny little flaw on the driver's seat - go get your magnifying glass, we'll wait) This is one of the main reasons people want to buy this Mustang so bad. Dressed up with Cobra aluminum valve covers and a brand new HiPo air cleaner, this muscular 289 4-barrel sits in a clean, dry engine bay.
