1983 BMW 528e, this has been in my family since new, I purchased this car back in 83 and its been around the family through everyone and back to me The "Old Man" as we respectfully refer to this car has been through thick and thin and I can honestly say has never left me on the road, EVER! but its time for us to let him go to someone else as we are moving from NJ to Florida and we must move forward. this is a daily driver, and is a very dependable car runs fine, and gets great mileage He has the usual daily driver bumps and bruises but is still very elegant and is sure to be a great conversation piece, we use the QQ plates which saves us alot of yearly insurance with Haggerty classic insurance, and thats great. I have a great attachment to this car and am sure it will make someone a nice daily commuter for many years to come I have worked for BMW most of my adult life and can give you a full history if thats important to you, but overall this is a fine example of a well made german car, which owes me nothing it has high miles and honestly I dont know how many but the speedo has been changed about 7 years ago when it stopped working at 115K , so Im assuming it has at least 180K miles, the engine is very strong and does not burn any oil, as I have replaced the cylinder head twice in his life. inspection is not an issue as a 25 year old car does not need nj inspection any more. Im not looking for alot of money, , believe it or not, its not about the money, but would like to find someone who will like the car and needs good transportation very dependable, presentable and sure to make someone very happy in the years to come some things to note I upgraded the light system many years ago to European headlamps from germany, I do have the originals if you want, I also added a sport steering wheel and third brake lamp from an 88 I will remove the alpine stereo unless you want to buy it , and it has a very nice upgraded sound system a few things, the a/c works but needs a new belt and charging, but I recently replaced the compressor with a good used one, so it definately works, I used it this summer but removed the belt while the car was being serviced the passengers seat does not move electrically, I think its the switch, this started after I spilled coffe onto the seat switch, so Im assuming thats what it is everything else is fine, inlcuding the onboard computer and warning system which works fine, newer tires, brakes, muffler, timing belt, etc, so its safe for long distance driving,(just replaced all the pads and front rotors ), I feel confident this car can be driven cross country if needed at anytime. it also has the upgraded rear spoiler which is very hard to find on this model, it is an origianl BMW part, not afermarket, has original tool kit in the trunk it also has all the badges and emblems, with the exception of the 528e which is on the trunk which I had removed about 15 years ago while it was being painted it has the upgraded seats which were usually on the 535's and the on board computer as well, so the car shows like an 88 but is an 83 again I have alot of info on this car as I fancy myself to be a self proclamed enthusiast and specialist on this series car serious bidders only please, if you have 0 feedback, please contact me before bidding payment due at the end of the auction, no exceptions this auction is to buy not to come look at after bidding, I encourage all buyers to come look at the car first and ask any and all questions before committing to buy , I am trying to describe this car to the best of my ability, the car is not a show car, but still has alot of life left in it, handles tight, and drives straight with no issues at highway speeds, its not a rocket , but can be driven all day at high speeds, and is sure footed, with a confident stance.
