Vehicle Detail
This Eco-Benz can run on Diesel or Straight Vegetable Oil. ****If you aren't interested in the conversion aspect of this car, no big deal... Runs perfectly well on just diesel!!!!! This car comes with nearly 200 gallons of unfiltered fryer oil, 2- 50 gallon drums (along with tubing and fittings), a pump (with blown seals), and a water heater (I was planning on using the heating element in a new filtering system). Full conversion complete! I originally bought this Benz as a green project. I did tons of research and found that the Mercedes Benz 300 TD was one of the very best models to convert. It has one of the longest lasting motors ever built - some call it the million mile engine. So now this ride can be run on diesel or vegetable oil. The Grease Car Conversion Kit: I purchased and installed a Grease Car kit directly from the web site - www.greasecar.com for $950.00. It's the best kit on the market. This kit has the 13 gallon stainless steel tank installed in the trunk. I have included several pictures below to show the operating system. The system is composed of 2 solenoids that control the fuel flow, a 13 gallon stainless tank, heavy duty Goodyear hosing that re-directs the coolant to the back tank (this helps heat the oil in the back tank), pex line that carries that veg oil to the the engine (it runs inside the hosing - for heating purposes), heated oil filter (I just installed a new filter - 0 miles on the filter), an additional engine block heater (the car now has 2), and a custom install controll switch - directly on the dash for easy use (see picture below). The Car: The car has 222,669 miles. I bought it with 221,620 miles (listed on title). I have put a little over 1000 miles on it since the purchase. The odometer started acting a little funny this summer, so I am not sure about the exact mileage. The body has 2 small rust spots, near the wheel wells- on the left side of the car. They are very small. I have included photos. The super large moonroof work well. The back right window is non-operational. There is also a small rip in the drivers seat - about 3 inches in length. The only other issues with the car are: The door handle sticks just a bit - after opening the car from the outside, you have to push the handle back in before closing door - this is very minor (just wanted to disclose all issues) and the fuel intake lines should be replaced in the near future - I have those, just haven't swopped them out (they were $22.00). Tires are ok - passed inspection just fine last November. The radio works ok. All lights work. The car is pretty clean and runs strong. On the highway, 80 mph is a breeze. It has really been designed to run on the highway - and it does - very smoothly. Inspection runs out in November of 2010. ** I just placed a brand new battery in this car this summer. The battery runs about $150.00. ** I purchased this vehicle in Harrisburg Pa for $2700 from Cali auto Sports - still have invoice. ** I paid $950 for th Grease Car conversion kit. What is included: Mercedes Benz 300 TD (of course), nearly 200 gallons of unfiltered oil, 2-50 gallon drums connected by tubing and fittings, pump (with blown seals), water heater. Why am I selling? I no longer have a garage. I recently moved. I have no where to do the oil filtering. I tried my basement, but the pump blew out twice and coated my basement in oil... And, I just dont have the time to dedicate to collecting, storing and filtering the oil - new job, 2 kids, long commute, too many toys, and 4 cars.... Enough said...... Plus, I now have a trecherous (especailly winter) commute (over 80 miles/day). Let my research and time benefit you. Email me at steinly4@verizon.net with any questions.
