Vehicle Detail
1954 Pontiac Custom Catalina 2 door hardtop, owned by one family since 1957.Sometime in the 60's or 70's it was passed on to the Son of the owner who modified the car installing what appears to be a mid 60's Pontiac V8 and Hurst four speed manual floor shift, converted to 12 volt system, installed bucket seats and in general "sported" his parents car up.The car remained in this condition all these years, driven occassionaly and is really unique and interesting. The car was originally coral red with a white top and matching two tone leather interior but was repainted light yellow sometime during the same period as the other modifications (60's- 70's) and the seats reupholstered in vinyl. The car starts, runs and can be driven,it does not knock or smoke.I have only driven it short distances and have not had it above 40 MPH.The brakes work fine,as does the clutch and the Hurst shifter shifts through the gears. The car has been in continuous covered storage for years, the body is very straight and solid with virtually no rust thru or rot a basically undented body and very presentable as is. The entire body including the floor and trunk is extremely solid.Chrome is all original and well preserved. All the glass is in the car and good as is. I have about 10 boxes full of various spare parts,a few vintage tachometers etc.all of which came with and will go with the car.The drivers and passenger interior door panels are both missing and cannot be located. However, all the trim parts for the door panels are in a box.I believe that if you found a pair of hardtop door panels you could have them recovered to match the rest of the interior. The photos speak for themselves and accurately reflect the condition of the car.It is impressive to look at and cleans up nicely as is. It could use some better carpet, routing of wiring and misc.improvements but has allot of potential. The car gives a really interesting feel of a period modified vehicle.I think it has great potential with it's modifications as a cruise night or hot rod show entry. The original straight 8 and hydramatic are not available, they were removed years ago and we cannot determine what happened to them. This is not a car that was assembled for a rusty hulk or a combination of several cars.I have the tile from 1957 and photos of the car in the 60's showing it;'s original appearance. This length of ownership may or may not be important to some bidders but for me it it adds to the cars interest.I would like to see it go to a good home to someone that has covered storage and the ability to care for it.Please ask questions before bidding.High bid is to win the car not come out after the auction is over and kick tires and come up with a reason to not complete the sale. The reserve price is very reasonable and fair.I will not disclose the reserve.I do not want to take any trades I will store the car inside for up to 60 days at no charge if time is needed to arrange for transport etc..Thank you
