Vehicle Detail
1960 Volkswagen Camper Van Westfalia This is a really nice 1960 VW Camper Van. I'm not sure if it's a Westfalia or not, but it's in extremely nice condition. Runs and drives great, solid motor. The exterior is in great condition and doesn't appear to have ever been in an accident. Original Mango Green color. The interior is in pretty good original condition. All the wood paneling is in great shape and appears to be all original. It does show some wear, but it's original and not too bad for being 50 years old. The upholstery is in pretty good condition, but not perfect. It does show it's age a little, but not bad enough to detract from the appearance or quality of the bus. Here's a list of options that this bus has. I'll try to list everything, but I may not get it all as I'm not an expert on these vans. sink fridge ice box in the back for cold storage. side windows that flip up and have screens to block out bugs exterior electrical hook up wardrobe closet all original glass, the driver's side piece has a crack in it interior lights storage under the seats seats fold down to make a bed I think the original jack, doesn't' appear to have ever been used original exterior mirrors original marker lights deluxe bumpers comes with an antique Coleman stove The tag on the wall behind the passenger side says : 16 12 9 360 175 WA 211 GREY 548358 Mileage shows 44844, but I'm not sure if it's 44844 or if it's 144844 it also has an aftermarket basic stereo Everything on this van works and is in really, really great condition. I'm sure you could do some more restoration, but this wasn't meant to be a show car. It's a perfect small family camper van, but it could easily be completed to be a show car. I'm sure I missed some details, but please, feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best to answer them. I was wrong Mango Green was not an original color for this particular bus. Here is some additional info on your bus: 16 12 9 means made on the 16th day, of the 12th month, of 1959 (Thus a 1960 model), 360 is an option code for USA Market Package including front blinkers and bumper over-riders. 175 again an option code for bumper over-riders. WA most likely an unreadable "UA" since ALL buses for the USA have a "U" (as in USA). The "A" indicates it was imported through the port of Los Angeles. 211 is the model designation for Panel Van, Cargo doors right, Left hand drive (a bus without windows and usually without rear interior). GREY The exterior color was light gray (not two tone). This is further indicated by the interior colors on the steering column, shifter, & E-brake being black. Original Mango (on bottom) & sea gull grey (on top) colors were ONLY on Standard & Deluxe Microbuses which had beige steering column, shifter, & E-brake. 548 358 Unit production number during that month they were from 546 843 up to 566 341.On Nov-01-10 at 18:44:41 PDT, seller added the following information: This also means that this bus has been painted recently. I want to make sure I'm not miss-leading anyone. Here's some additional information that I've come across from some very helpful members. It's NOT a Westfalia. It's a camper conversion bus. I wasn't sure about that or not, but now I am. Please bid accordingly. It's still a very nice bus and will make someone very happy.
