1976 Honda GL1000 built in October of 1975. I've always loved these first year Gold Wings known commonly as "naked" as they came with no fairing etc. I am told I am the third owner of this bike that started life as a sulfur yellow model, was then painted burgundy and now satin black to my liking. The paint is no where near perfect but I enjoy it. Mechanically, all the important issues are handled new belts, carb rebuilt and synced by Honda mechanic, new tank, fuel lines, NOS headlight, new Corbin leather saddle, plugs and wires. I would want the idle set better as it really doesn't settle in to 1000 rpms until warm. Until that moment it hunts for the idle speed. She is overall a cold beast until warm then she purrs. Cruising and long trips are no trouble. I would ride this bike to California today (from Michigan). Also new are the tires and ignition switch as these were infamous for worn down connectors inside the switch causing the bike to go dead, usually at the most inconvenient times. So you're safe. This is not a trailer queen but a very reliable, cool looking bike that can be your first or restore it to new with like work.
