Vehicle Detail

I bought this Mustang nearly 30 years ago. Finally in the past year, I've come to terms to be able to let it go and let someone else care for it and enjoy it as I did. I will give you every detail i know about this car. I bought it way back when because i wanted a Mustang that was a bit special. Back in 1965, Ford built at total of 559,451 Mustangs of all styles. Of those only 65,663 were convertibles. Even less where 8 cyl and less where automatics. This one is special as it is the original 289 engine, original automatic transmission, with several factory options that came with it. Based on the VIN, I can tell you this: This Mustang was born October 8th, 1965 at the Deerborn, Michigan plant. It has the original V8 engine. 289 V8 2bbl, 200 hp/282 torque, Cruise-O-Matic Automatic Transmission C-4 It was ordered for delivery to New York, Factory Options:V8 289 Power Steering The rally pack. Automatic transmission, Center console, Electric roof to raise and lower. (was an option) Original color maintained which is white. I am either the second or third owner. I had the engine rebuilt about 60,000 miles ago. How many miles does the car have? I have no idea. My guess would be in the 175-250k mile range, I drove it as my main car for years, even drove it to Florida and back! I never intended for it to be a 'show car', but a great mustang that was, and still is, almost totally stock and came with some nice factory options. This car has always been stored indoors, though living in NY, it did have some rust that was taken care. The rear quarter panels have been redone, as were some floor panels. The right door was changed. I got it myself at the junk yard from another 65 mustang. The frame of the mustang is solid as far as i can tell. I just had it up on a lift. I took a bunch of pics for you to see. This mustang was in storage for several years and had not been driven at all, I flat-bedded it to my mechanic a few weeks ago, to get ready for it's next owner. I had him purge the fuel tank, rebuild the carb and get the engine going again. The engine runs great and the car drives fine. But in my opinion, it is not ready to drive until you've checked things like ball joints, worked on the brakes, put a new muffler etc... I will tell you that after all that storage time, it will need some basic TLC to replace some dried out parts. and you should take care of minor surface rust etc... Eventually, I would probably give it a new paint job and that's about it. About 5 years ago, i thought i was going to start driving it again. So i bought new interior vinyl upholstery covers. The seats are original. I took the liberty from going from pure factory stock (all black ) and upgraded the upholstery to a pony (black&white) interior. Had a new soft roof put on, and then never got around to finishing the job as personal health issues got in the way. So back in storage she went. There are some extra interior pony parts that have not yet been installed, mainly the door panels. As i said, it took me a long time to get the courage to give this car up. It deserves to find an new owner that will let those 200 horses rev up as you drive down the roads along with 45 years of American history! It's a darn nice car. With a some modest work this can become a real head turner. Reserve is set at $10,000.00 This car is as is. If you would like to stop by and look at it you are welcome. Just contact me. If you have questions, I will do my best to provide the info.Good luck!
