Vehicle Detail
1988 Toyota 4Runner in very good condition. This truck has been my daily driver for the last year and a half. I have made many upgrades and repairs in this time which I have thoroughly listed below. Overall this is a great truck, it starts right up and cruises on down the road. Features: 4wd Fuel Injected 5 speed manual transmission Aisin manual locking front hubs (original) Roof rack (bike holders not included) A/C Original bottle jack with handle and lug wrench 2" receiver hitch Kenwood cd player with front usb input and pioneer in dash 4" speakers Owner's Manual Upgrades/repairs DONE: June 2009: Replaced timing chain Heater hoses Radiator hose Thermostat Adjust valves Vacuum lines Clutch Rear leaf springs - Downey off-road 3" springs resulting in current ride height of about 1" higher than stock Shocks - KYB all around: Monomax on rear and Excell-G on front Added 2" receiver hitch and stereo/speakers October 2009: Exhaust manifold and gasket Clutch master cylinder Tune up: plugs, wires, rotor button, distributor cap, air filter April 2010: Tires - Nexen All Terrain 31x10.50x15 excellent tread remaining Alignment Fan clutch A/C condenser dryer and high pressure hose Power steering pump Alternator Belts August 2010: Brakes - all around: new rear cylinders, shoes, drums; new front calipers and pads Brake master cylinder and Wilwood manual proportioning valve Wiper blades Battery Originally it is from Alabama, I recently moved to Asheville, NC. This truck has not seen a snowy winter in it's life, and as a result has NO frame or body rust. There are two small paint chips that have some surface rust on them as shown in the pictures: one on hood, one scratch on roof near roof rack. There are also a few door dings on both sides including one paint chip on the passenger side near the gas cap, and a couple almost imperceptible dings in the middle of the driver door at the lower body contour; check the pics. And the passenger corner of the rear bumper is bent a bit, but no body damage. While it has been well maintained in its 22 years of life, there are a few things that could use some TLC which I will spell out below. Otherwise please see the many detailed pictures. Areas that could use improvement: Interior - still very functional, but understandably worn. Driver's seat torn from sliding in and out, also driver's interior side panel torn. Back seats have some stains. Both door arm rests are cracked or torn. Dash is cracked and clear plastic instrument cover(?) is cracked- see pics Front cv boots torn Rear window - original switch died, rolls up and down with use of "homemade" switch. Got replacement from salvage yard, but have not wired it in. Transmission - occasionally slips out of 1st gear; shop diagnosis: "shifter seat and bushing need replaced", estimate was $80 and it doesn't jump out if I gently hold it in place when starting off in 1st. I just got used to it. All other gears shift fine and smoothly. Valves - seem a little clattery to me, even after valve adjustment, but again it has over 206k miles Cigarette lighter doesn't work Ash tray retainer broken, so it wants to fall out all the time. I just leave it out, except for photos... Will need oil change soon - Amsoil 6 month, last changed in April A/C needs to have a vacuum pulled on it and then charged. Hasn't been done since replacing condenser and high pressure hose. Driver's front side marker lens cracked. Runs like a champ, classic Toyota dependability. All lights and gauges work, all glass is good. In other words, get in and drive it home, or spend some time and make it a real stunner. I also have a small handful of parts that will come with the truck. Shipping: Is the responsibility of the winning bidder, but I will assist in any way I can once you make arrangements. On Oct-08-10 at 11:48:22 PDT, seller added the following information: Just thought of two things to add: There is a small amount of rust in the battery tray area. Not much but there is a hole about the diameter of a golf ball under the battery. A piece of wood has been placed under the battery to avoid contact with the metal of the battery tray. Also, the rubber weather stripping in the vertical part of the window tracks on the front door windows is not original. It has been replaced with some universal type rubber. It's not a perfect seal so there is a little wind noise when driving.
