It has a 3.0 liter V6 SOHC motor. I have owned this SUV since late 05/ early 06. It had 140k miles when I got it. The majority of the miles I put on it were highway miles. One job I lived 55 miles away one way the other job was 40 miles one way, all interstate. I am only selling because I have 3 Monteros and dont need/use this one anymore. It has been a great truck for me and will make someone else very happy. I would like to keep it but it is time to move on. This Montero is not perfect nor do I claim it as such. It is and has been used as a sport/utility vehicle. This SUV is very capable offroad, just lock the hubs, shift into 4wd low, and lock the rear axle and go. The Montero was built to last forever in third world countries. It is over built. Fully boxed frame front to rear, 9in rear axle, body on frame construction, very tough. I have seen it described as the best kept secret in offroading. The Montero/Pajero has won the Paris Dakar rally more times than any other vehicle. They have been used in the Malaysia Rainforest Challenge and in the Australia Outback Challenge. You cant go wrong with this SUV. The good: This SUV is still a good solid vehicle with a lot of life left in it. The motor runs strong and idles great. It has 4.875 gears in the axles. They are a great match for the 33in BFG tires. The tires were on my other Montero and have somewhere around 6k miles. Brand new battery. New windshield wipers. New within the last year I put in a rebuilt ECU, rear drive shaft U-joints, fuel filter and a front CV shaft. The shocks were upgraded a couple of years ago. They still ride and perform like new. New headlights. Air Condition works. The brake pads have thousands of miles left in them, fairly new. Brakes are strong and stop the Montero great. 4 wheel disc brakes.25+ gal gas tank. The cylinder heads have been rebuilt so it does not smoke like all the Mitsu 3.0s do. New headbolts and washers were used when installing the heads. The oil has been changed every 3-4k miles with 10-40 Valvoline Max Life. The transmission fluid was flushed with Valvoline Max Life ATF. The rear diff was changed with Mobile 1 Synthetic gear oil. In the center gauge pod there is an Altimeter, Thermometer, Digital compass, and Inclinometer (shows pitch and roll of vehicle). This Montero is equipped with and Active Trac Center diff. meaning it can be driven in All Wheel Drive mode on the street. It is great for snow, not that I know what snow driving is like, I live in SC. It also has 4wd high and 4wd low range. Very large sunroof, works and does not leak. Power windows and door locks. Tinted windows. Factory paint still looks good. All gauges function properly. 4wd and hubs function properly. ARB locker and compressor function properly. Rear carpet looks like new under the mat. Has CB radio, needs antenna and mount. Wired for fog lights. Starter and Alternator were replaced since I got it. Has factory hydro bottle jack. Clear SC title in my name. The not so good: The driver side rear door window does not work. It worked until just recently. I will look at it this week to try to fix it. Every once in a while the ABS light will come on in the dash then the next time you drive it, it wont come on. I dont know why. The bumper and front skid plate are off of my brothers 95 Montero. It was not wrecked. When I bought the Montero it has an aftermarket steel bumper and skid plate on it. I have since sold both. The rear cargo door rattles on very bumpy roads. There are a few dents and scrapes in the vehcile, it has been offroaded but not trashed. The pass rear bumper end cap is missing and the driver side one is scraped. The pass side rocker panel has some scrapes. A couple of the skid plates have scrapes in them. The factory roof rack was loose and rattly so I removed it and covered the holes with black silicone. They do not leak at all. The driver seat leather butt part is not good. It was covered with duct tape when I got it. I put a seat cover on it and have used it like that ever since. There is a little rust on the frame, nothing bad at all and no holes anywhere. The previous owner lived in MD. The body is rust free and frame is solid. The center dash has a couple of cracked plastic parts, does not affect function of anything. Light on radio does not light up, sometimes hard to tell what station it is on. Sometimes truck does not start in Park, but will crank right up in Neutral. Something to do with neutral safety switch on tranny, was not a big problem for me. It always starts. Exhaust pipe from muffler back was bent so I removed it. Muffler is still on and works. Has factory Mitsu spare, full size tire(not an donut) but smaller than 33in. Do not let the not so good stuff scare you off. There is not anything that bad. I am just trying to be honest and not hide anything. Other random stuff:Vehicle is AS IS NO WARRANTY. Has a factory Mitsu. catalytic converter on it. I do not have any idea if it will pass smog where you live. We dont have emission testing here. The exhaust system is all factory Mitsu and has not been modified other than removal of the pipe from muffler back. The engine is all unmodified. I would "think" it would pass the sniffer however I can not be sure. If you use the "buy it now" option I will include a matching 33x10.5 BFG AT spare and will meet you within an hour of Anderson SC to drop it off. If not the buy it now option you will pick the SUV up in Anderson SC. You are welcome to come look the vehicle in person before bidding. Payment and pickup:Cash ONLY. No checks or anything else. $500 non-refundable Paypal deposite due within 24 hours within the end of auction. Pick up and the rest of payment due withing 7 days.
