Vehicle Detail
This 1978 Datsun 620 King Cab pickup is very solid and virtually rust free. The only rust is on the seam on the side of the pickup bed (see photos) and on a few paint chip spots. the floor pans, rockers, door jambs, etc. are completely rust free. It has been painted, although the original color was yellow,. The repaint is pealing in some places. I don't believe any significant bodywork has been done. No evidence of bondo or filler. I think it was just a quick respray, looks like a Macco special or something. I replaced all shocks, ball joints, and tie rods within the past year. I also replaced the drive belt, water pump, fuel pump, plugs, distributor cap and rotor, plug wires, air filter, etc. The truck starts up and runs great. The only issue is that the carburator tends to stick at a high RPM when at idle, such as a stop light. It will idle high then usually the RPMs drop down after after sitting for perhaps 30 seconds. It also "diesels" when shut off, especially when hot. The timing may be off or something. I haven't spent a lot of time trying to figure it out. I believe this truck to be bone stock other than the after market wheels. I bought this truck a few years ago but have not been able to use it too much, I need a truck that can tow a trailer, so this one must go. The truck is missing the passanger door window glass and rear window glass (the piece across the back, not the small king cab piece) - feel free to ask my 8 year old son how that one happened :( I still have the rear window glass seal and it looks to be in perfectly usable shape. When I bought the truck a few years ago it came with a rebuilt manual 5 speed transmission, which was still in the crate. The previous owner was going to swap it in to replace the 4 speed unit that is in it now. The 5-speed is still in the crate un-opened and comes with the truck. I make no claims regarding the condition of the 5-speed trans as I have never taken it out of the crate. The 4-speed trans installed in the truck now works great, no issues. This swap was only to gain a 5th gear (which would be nice on the highway). The speedometer reads wrong, probably the wheels, but it reads about 45 MPH when you are going about 65 MPH on the highway. All other guages and accessories (wipers, heater, defrost, lights, horn, etc.) work great. Even the cigeratte lighter, but never smoked in. The original jack, etc. in the truck. I took out the emissions air pump, but have it in a box if you want it. Original carb, air filter cover, everything in the engine bay looks very nice and original. Very clean. I have the rear bumper, but I took it off. It is huge and looks wierd on the truck, but it will be included in the sale. That is all I can think of. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Clean title, no reserve On Oct-10-10 at 07:51:37 PDT, seller added the following information: FYI - I started the truck to move it yesterday and noticed that it blew a bit of smoke. I dont know if it was only because it has been sitting a while or what. It ran and drove fine, just a bit more smoke - seemed like black smoke, not blue, which leads me to think it might be running rich or something. Just mentioning this for full disclosure - I don't want anyone to be surprised when they pick it up. It is not an obnoxious amount of smoke, but it is there. Ryan 312-662-2427.
