Up for auction is very nice start for a hotrod or restoration project 1940 ( late) Pick up truck. According to the VIN# and the title the truck is truely a '40 model, however it does have '41 trim on it which was common for Ford to use what they had when build cars. I found the truck in barn here in Colorado and it was covered, so the truck has very little rust. It appears the truck was slightly customized in '50s and never finished ( they sanded the paint off so the truck has surface rust only) .Luckly the only custom feature was they frenched the headlights with lead. I do have another set of donor fenders to put the original headlight buckets back in ( see pictures). This is an easy job and I have it done locally for $500 additional. The rest of the fenders are really nice and do not have any rips or tears in the front, the rear fenders have a couple tiny tears on the underside only. The front grill is near perfect and has NO broken bars or pieces. The cab is very nice with only a few small dings in the back side. Someone replaced the cab corners years ago and I would redo them if I was going to keep it. The truck has a nice Ford script rear tailgate and full set of bumpers. The frame is nice with no cracks or modifacations. The bed has some rust on the front stake pocket ( available through MACS early ford parts) and lower front bed bottoms which is flat panel so an easy repair. The truck does NOT come with the flathead engine or transmissiom, otherwise it is 100% complete with all factory suspension and brake components. This is nice project truck and will not need alot of work to make a nice truck. The truck has surface rust only and is NOT pitted, because it was inside most of its life ( in the process of being customized). UPDATE 10-9: The Ebay message system is down so I cannot respond to questions right now . Someone asked about the bed wood .I have checked under the truck and the wood in the bed is very nice and solid has been replaced and covered in tin. The tin is just screwed in and would be easy to remove. The front floor boards are covered in the same style tin and as I pulled it up I noticed the very edge near the door seal has some small rust areas and the tin is there reinforce them since the edge is weak. Other than the very edge near the door the floor board and inner front cab braces are solid and have no rust. I can store the truck for free (once I am paid in full) until you can arrange shipping or come get it.
