Vehicle Detail
This 1969 Fiat was last registered in 1984. As you know the early cars are so much prettier with the small bumpers, side markers and the beautiful 1438 twin cam. I purchased the car one year ago from the second owner who had owned the car since 1974. During his ownership the car was always garaged. Upon procuring the car I set about re-commisioning the car and rebuilt the Weber carb using NOS pieces included in the sale. I also completely rebuilt the brakes, all four calipers and a new master cylinder. The car is virtually rust free the only rust I have found being light surface rust on the under carriage and some in the engine bay. The car does need paint. While the door jams, trunk area and engine bay are all original paint , in very nice condition, the exterior was reshot 30 years ago and there are many flaws including crazing, micro bubbles and one small dent by the gas filler. The dent is more a paint loss scuff , very shallow and easy to address during a repaint. The interior is not mint but would be easy to bring back as the dash has no cracks, the gauges are perfect and the wood in very good shape. The front drivers seat is near perfect, the passenger side has an open seam on the side bolster that could be repaired as well as some loose seams on the backrest . The back seat is excellent. The factory exhaust was just fine but the soft mounts had perished so I installed NOS hangers. The original side mirror is missing the glass but otherwise in excellent shape. The passenger side lower chrome trim is with the car but not mounted. I have been unable to locate proper clips. The trim is in excellent shape. The top frame and side windows all work well though the top itself is short (see notes at bottom regarding the NOS soft top) The 5 speed transmission shifts perfectly and the clutch work very smoothly. The car maintains correct temp. All the gauges work as do the lights including the inspection lights in the trunk and engine bay. The back up light works as well. The horn is currently not working though I think it may just be a corroded compressor contact. The heater fan does work but the switch is suspect. The glass is all in very good condition. The rear tires are near new Toyos the fronts are old Michelin XAS's and though they look great are old. The optional Cromadora wheels are true magnesium and have the Abarth center caps on all four wheels. The car runs and drives great. I have only driven the car 100 miles and though it initially smoked this appears to have stopped. The photos show the condition of the rest of the car well. The trunk is perfect and the original tool kit, jack etc are all present. In addition I have a brand new Fiat factory soft top not yet installed and a very large assortment of NOS pieces, including Weber kits, gaskets and other service items. All the original owners pamphlets are present and the car comes with a collection of repair manuals including a factory one. With regards to shipping the buyer must make all the arrangements I can assist in loading the car. Payment must be via bank transfer and a 500.00 dollar deposit is due 24 hours after the auction closes.I am happy to provide any additional information or answer questions regarding any and all aspects of the car.
