1957 Chevrolet Panel Truck 2 wheel drive with 17,000 original miles. This truck was owned by a local fire department for 52 years. It has a good running 283 V8 with the Hydromatic automatic transmission. The fuel tank was drained and cleaned and the radiator was flushed, the engine recieved a tune up and it runs great, no smoke, no noise. The carbureator is a little cold natured. The transmission shifts good. The carrier bearing was replaced, but it makes a squeeling sound at low speeds. The brakes work good. The original rear end was swapped out for a later model 3/4 ton rear end. The rear leaf springs will not take grease, therefore it rides hard and is noisy when you hit a bump. The original wheels and tires were also replaced with 16" wheels and radial tires. It has late model leather power seats that work, but I also have the original seats which are included with the sale. The grille was cut for the pump, but I have another grille. I also have a stock rear bumper. I also have the other hubcap. The driver's side door interior garnish molding is missing. The lights, sirens, and radio are also included. The body on the truck is exceptionally solid for a 53 year old truck. One lower quarter had previous repairs (that have been exposed) and both front outer doors have blisters (all seen in the pictures). Other than that the body is extremely solid. The frame and floors are also extremely solid. I was going to restore the truck to tow my 57 Chevy convertible, but I need to sell the truck to fund restoring the convertible. I have answered all of them, but I would like to add the information for everyone else. First, the wheelbase is 134 inches. All of the guages work with the exception of the fuel gauge. I have another instrument panel that I will include in case it is the gauge itself that is broken. The mileage is actual. Only the last 20 miles or so might be off because of the different rear end. The truck came from a local fire department, therefore I know the history of the truck. The mileage is also stated as "actual" on the title. It is definitely a little over 17,000 original miles! It has spent the majority of its life in storage. I hope that this clears up some of the questions. I have had a few interested buyers come and look it over, and they were well pleased with the condition. Good luck.
