1966 Ford Thunderbird Landau Special Classic Autoworx is proud to offer this beautiful and very original Wixom, MI. built, Los Angeles dealer delivered 1966 Ford Thunderbird. It’s rare to come across original classic Thunderbird’s such as this and this car would make an excellent daily driver or weekend cruiser!. Still paired with it’s numbers matching Z-code 315hp 390 4v V8 and C6 automatic transmission, this car is a time capsule with 1 repaint in it’s original color, Wimbledon White. This is a lifelong California car, spending the last 2 years garaged in Arizona by a Thunderbird enthusiast. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK BEFORE BIDDING. The Thunderbird in itself is an iconic vehicle. Classic Thunderbirds such as this are a great value, as well as a lot of fun to enjoy. This Thunderbird was the epitome of luxury in 1966, have many power accessories and niceties that you just don’t see on other vehicles of the same year. Options such as: Power steering, A/C, cruise control, power disc brakes, map lights, fender skirts, sequential turn signals, power drivers seat, power door locks, adjustable headrest, tilt-away steering column, power windows and power windwings. The interior features lots of brushed aluminum, chrome and plush seating. It’s truly an enjoyable, luxurious ride! Like all of the cars we sell, this one is priced below market value, so get it before the market increases further. Every year these cars continue to go up in value and when the fad cars such as restomods and eleanors are no longer popular, the original cars such as this will be the sought after cars for collectors. They are only original once!!! BODY/ PAINT: The paint on the car is about 5 years old. It has sat in the garage and the years have been very good to it with no noticeable knicks or scratches. Most notable exterior flaws are the trunk lock cover had broken off many years ago, the cover comes with the car. Some of the chrome is showing it’s age such as the bumpers, but overall everything is in very good condition. The car looks great and has a nice overall shine to it. INTERIOR: The interior has had a little work done to it over the years. The seat covers are original and are in good shape, showing very little wear. The carpet is in good shape and was replaced at some point over the years. The door panels are in good shape for their age, showing a few cracks in the vinyl. The original dash is nice and straight showing one barely noticeable crack on the top, passenger side due to age. It's nothing a dash mat wouldn't cover. The car still has it’s original steering wheel. The dash lights and gauges all work properly, aside from the speedometer which probably needs a new cable. The turn signals work great, as do the flashers. The original radio does not work. The car has power windows which work well. The passenger window is intermittently temperamental. The A/C blows cold and overall it’s a very comfortable ride! DRIVELINE: The engine is a Z-code 315hp 390 4v V8. Featuring the original 4v carburetor (has original Ford tag on it) which was rebuilt at some time over the years, according to the previous owner. The car runs great, no smoke, features cold A/C, power steering and power disc brakes. The engine may have been rebuilt according to the previous owner, however no recipts to confirm the claim. The car also has the original aircleaner assembly and is a fantastic example of an untampered with classic Thunderbird 390 V8. Recent maintenance bill of over $500 included: Engine oil change/ filter Transmission service (filter gasket and fluid) Ignition points set Spark plugs Spark plug wire set Distributor cap and rotor Set dwell and timing Chassis lubed And more... All service done professionally and vehicle was inspected by an ASE certified mechanic at a BBB accredited shop. (Receipt available for verification) Other recent maintenance done by Classic Autoworx includes: Installation of new Ignition Switch and starter solenoid. This baby is ready for a road trip! The C6 Automatic trans was reportedly rebuilt around 5 years ago and operates beautifully, however there are no receipts to substantiate the claim. The rear differential is a stock 9in. with a conventional rear axle and 3.00:1 gearing. All working properly Brakes, Steering, Suspension and Underbody The car has stock style suspension, the sway bar end link bushings look to have been recently replaced. The brakes work well and the car stops straight. Steering is excellent given the vehicles age without excessive slop. The car has power steering which is fully functional. The underbody of the car appears clean and dry and free of rust, including the trunk pan which is solid. Everything appears to be straight. Let me state this as a disclaimer: This is not a rotisserie built, nut and bolt, frame off or body off restored show car. This car is mostly original as is. Any ideas that this car will be unloaded and be immaculate and flawless, you’ll likely be disappointed. We encourage you to come view the car in person BEFORE BIDDING.
