Vehicle Detail
2002 Silver Stream Metallic Honda Goldwing GL1800A with Antilock Braking System. This is the motorcycle I expected to ride into my old age. Unfortunately, financial needs force me to sell my baby now. I am the second owner of this motorcycle. It has 52,433 miles, almost all of the miles were interstate touring miles. The bike has always been garaged in a non-smoking environment. I am including a deluxe waterproof motorcycle cover that is in good condition, great for dust free storage inside or if you must park outside. The bike is in excellent condition mechanically, it starts and runs like a dream and has never given me any trouble. It uses the starter motor for reverse gear, making it very easy to back up, even on an incline. The bike has many features and extras. Cruise control, adjustable headlight beam, adjustable windshield, electronically adjustable rear suspension, Honda's deluxe audio with 80 watts channeled through 4 speakers; 2 in the front and 2 in the rear. AM, FM Stereo, Weatherband Radio, Auxiliary Input and Rider/Passenger Intercom. The audio controls are easy to access and very customizable, including an option to auto-mute the radio when you press talk on the intercom. The seat is a custom dual seat with great padding, support and an adjustable backrest for the driver. Extremely comfortable around town and on the road. The bike has heated grips, but the wire on the left side was accidentally pulled out of the grip. If you can reconnect the wiring the heat is great in the fall and winter. There is a nice chrome luggage rack on the rear trunk lid and an interior trunk light that can be set to auto or operated manually. I just installed a new 3 year+ gel battery. In the spring I installed a new VStream windshield. The VStream is a new design that does a great job of moving the oncoming air around and over the rider more effectively. It is quieter and less tiring than other windshields. It's vented and VStream said I should use my Goldwing vent. The original purchaser had already installed an extra tall vented windscreen and the vent is not a perfect fit in the VStream opening. There is a small gap at the top that added some noise. I carefully put some clear tape over the vent to silence it, so I leave the vent closed . It's easy to install a new or used Honda vent if you like. The windshield has six adjustments up and down to your liking, about 3 - 4 inches, as shown in the photos. The bike has never been involved in an accident or down at speed. When I first purchased the bike I had just finished losing over 300 lbs. I went from 475 (non-riding) to 175 after surgery and hard work; yippee - time to start riding again. What I didn't realize was how much muscle mass I also lost. In the first week I had her I practised in a large empty parking lot near my home. Long story short, the bike tipped 2 times to the left as I came to a dead stop and once to the right as I stopped next to a tall curb. The right headlight lens has a scuff mark, shown in a photo. There are some scratches on the saddlebags and on the bottom of the chrome engine guards. The left saddlebag bumper strip has the most scratches and can be replaced if you choose for $56.00 from a Honda dealer, closer to $44.00 for genuine Honda parts online. The turn signal pods were also scratched below the amber lenses, and on the drivers side up the side as well. I obtained the correct Honda paint and carefully touched up the areas where I could. The scratches are shown in the photos. The left front amber turn signal lens is cracked but fully functioning. It is very easy to replace by removing only 1 screw if you choose, $36.00 from a Honda dealer, $24.00 for genuine Honda online. Also shown in a photo is a epoxy repaired crack by the lower right air vent. Not noticeable to most, but I'm trying to show you everything clearly. The original owner's manual, safety book and tool kit are with the bike. Two sets of keys, one electronic and one regular. I am setting a low reserve because of the scratches shown in the photos. If you need any additional shots send me an ebay message or call me on my cell phone. I am centrally located in Peoria, Illinois. The bike is available for inspection at any agreed upon time. I would be happy to speak to you on the phone @ 309-712-4226. My name is Gordon, please call in the afternoon or evening 'till 10 pm central time. I share the phone with my son Matt, if you get his recording, please leave a message and I will call you back. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS AVAILABLE TO YOU. I AM SELLING BECAUSE OF FINANCIAL NEED AND I CAN ONLY AFFORD TO SELL THE BIKE ONE TIME. I can cooperate with a shipper you choose if you cannot be here in person. Also, I would be happy to pick you up at the Peoria airport if you fly in and drive out. If told in advance I can go to my local DMV to help you get any needed paperwork. I have the clear title in my possession, so there will be no delay from me. I require a $1000.00 deposit within 48 hours of the auction close, and full payment within 7 days. The deposit can be made through Paypal. On Sep-17-10 at 23:17:53 PDT, seller added the following information: I stated in my answer to the question about my reserve that a Tuscon dealer recently sold a very similar silver Gold Wing without many scatches, but with 35 % higher mileage for $10,995.00. The similar bike in Tuscon did not have the Antilock Braking System, my Gold Wing does have the ABS. I should have remembered that when I compared the two bikes.
