Vehicle Detail
Hello all! Up for bid is a 1979 Triump Spitfire convertible. I purchased this car on Ebay in late 2007 from an older gentleman in Albaquerque, New Mexico. The car has no rust at all. All floors, body panels, trunk, and fenders are solid. This car includes the factory Triumph hardtop. This is a great little car and super fun to drive. It gets attention everywhere we go! Mileage is original. Car is a four speed manual with electronic overdrive, and Weber carb, and drives straight as an arrow down the road. The car runs exceptionally well, some might even say "great" The car has the original wood dash board with SCCA plaque on dash. This car has been stored inside my garage since I bought it and has only been driven in the summer/fall months. Since I have owned the car, it has not been in any rain or bad weather once so ever. I have removed the original luggage rack because I don't like luggage racks on Spitfires, however I still have the luggage rack and all hardware to put back on if you should wish to do so. I have regularly taken this car to vintage auto shows in my area, and it is usually the only Spitfire anywhere. I would not be afraid to drive this car anywhere as I know it is mechanically sound, and I have driven it on the highway at 65 to 75 mph with no problems and no fears at all. The car runs cool in 95 degree weather and has never overheated. I have never had the hardtop off of the car, so I can not tell you the actual condition of the ragtop, but it looks good from inside the car, and the gentleman I bought the car from said the top was in good condition. If you would like more, or specific pictures, please email me and I will be happy to send more pictures to you. Everything works on this car, with one exception. The selector for the bright head lights works, but does not "click" into place. I have added the following list of parts since I have bought the car: New Interior Door panels (2007) New tires (2008) New KYB rear shocks (2010) New leaf spring (2007) New battery (2009) New upper ball joints (2010) New tie rod ends (2010) New spark plugs and wires (2009) New cap and rotor (2009) New Bosch starter (2009) New clutch resevior (2009) New belts (2007) New radiator hoses - top and bottom (2007) New radiator fluid (2007) New Pace setter Header (2010) New muffler, as well as new full exhaust (2010) New Sony CD stereo with removable face (2008) New Pioneer speakers (2008) New Overdrive switch (2010) Top end of motor has been completely rebuilt by D&M motors of Naperville, IL (New valves, valve springs, head has been milled, new head gaskets) (2008) New thermostat & gasket(2008) New lug nuts (2008) Wheels have been repainted metallic silver (2010) New Flame Thrower ignition coil (2007) This car would be a great daily driver or the perfect, and I mean perfect car to restore as you would have only very minor body work and paint to have this car looking like new. NO RUST REPAIR would be required! Now for the "Needs": The car could use a fresh paint job, but is not in terrible shape, the pictures don't lie. The front and rear window seals could be replaced, but neither window leaks at all. The front seal is in much better condition than the rear. There are minor dings and scratchs (nicks) in the paint that you may not see in the pictures, not bad though and easily repaired. The nose of the hood has been minorly dented, and scratched when I purchased the car, as you can see in the pictures, but again this is not major, and very easily repaired, but does not hinder the look of the car at all. The winning bidder could easily put some spray paint on the nose and all would be good. If the winning bidder wanted, I could also do this for your, but just have not gotten around to it yet. If you live locally, you are welcome to make an appointment to look at the car. If you have any questions, please contact me at 815-582-7624, and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. I bought this car and had it delivered to my house via car carrier without telling my wife, and it has been war ever since, so I am selling this car to have peace in my life once more. (LOL) I also have the car listed locally, and reserve the right to end the auction early. The winning bidder is responsible for all shipping costs, but I will be happy to try and assist winning bidder with shipping if necessary. Deposit of $500.00 due immediately after the bid closes via PayPal, with the balance due within 7 days. Vehicle must be paid in full prior to shipping or pick up of car. No personal checks will be accepted. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding, this is a great car, and I am sure the winning bidder will not be disappointed.
