Vehicle Detail
Description: This vehicle has been a restoration project of mine for the last 5 years. Hundreds of hours have been spent on this and a lot of money. It was done as a hobby and now I have another project I have to let this one go. Below are some of the details. Engine: New crankshaft, lifters, valve springs, oil pump, oil filter conversion to canister, piston rings, main and rod bearings exhaust manifold and exhaust system Body: New floors, inner and outer rocker panels, electric windows, electric antenna. Fuel tank repaired and sealed. Painted in metallic green. New seat covers and carpet. Dashboard re-veneered and switches relocated to look less cluttered. Chassis and suspension: Rear chassis cross members replaced, suspension bushings brake lines brake seals, pads and shoes, sand-blasted and painted. Modifications: Twin carburetors replaced with 6 Suzuki throttle bodies with injectors, bosch high pressure fuel pump. Manifold hand fabricated out of aluminum by myself. MAP, MAF, Oxygen and CRANK sensors. Distributor and coil replaced with coil packs. Custom ECU designed by me, all critical timing done in hardware using a Altera FPGA and separate 8051 CPU processing the sensors all developed and programmed by myself. PC software included giving telemetry and tables to map fuel and ignition timing. If you bring over a laptop I will install the development tools and software source code and schematics. There may be still some defects in the mapping and or code, but all I can say is that it starts and runs well. You can monitor all the data real-time using a laptop and make alterations on the fly. Certainly a lot more power than the original carburetors. Things still to do and replace: Never got around to getting the soft-top, frame is mounted trim pieces come with. Front suspension linkage, possibly some new springs, looks a little low. Needs a fuel reservoir mounted near fuel pump as the engine can starve when tank is less than ½ full when cornering. Original carburetors, distributer and coil come as part of the deal, if you wish to convert back. Windshield is new but I put a crack in one corner when I installed it. Interior door handles missing. Most parts available from www.victoriabritish.com or www.the-roadster-factory.com General comments: This car is in good condition and many hours were spent on the restoration and conversion to modern day injection and ignition. This was done as a hobby, my skill level is good, but it wasn’t restored by a professional company. The car is not perfect and that is reflected in the starting price. The work was done over a 5 year period and not many miles were put on it afterwards. If you have questions email them or give me your phone number so that I can respond. I have started a different project that requires funds and unfortunately the TR6 doesn’t get any attention. Car can be driven away but as it has not done much mileage since the injection/ignition modifications I would suggest if you live far away it gets transported. This car should be garaged and only used as a second fun toy, not as a every day driver. Don’t buy this car if you are not equipped or skilled to care for it, it will require care after all it is 37 years old. Just added more pictures.
