Here is my 1939 Nash Lafayette, a Sleeper Bed Model, with a rebuilt original Nash 234.8-cid six, as smooth and quiet as ever with its seven main bearings, rated at 99 horsepower. It has an overhauled carburetor, and a new clutch. It is a 3 speed on the column, with a working overdrive. This car runs perfectly, and shifts like butter! The chrome and stainless is in really good shape for the most part, the lenses look like new. Obviously, it has the original paint, and interior, which are in need of re-furbishing. It appears there is at least a partial new correct cloth covered wiring harness in the car, and a new battery. An original shop manual is included, as well as a trunk full of spare parts. This car has the fold –down rear seat, which converts into a bed, and window screens on the back-door windows. Nash offered the travel bed from about 1935 on through the 50's. Many of the Nash club members like to display their cars at show's with the bed made up, the window screens in place. There were even attaching tents that could be purchased , (Aftermarket) that attached to one side of the car, giving added living space. In the 50's, Nash's were sometimes restricted from drive-in movies, due to this feature, and many a mom feared their daughter dating someone with a Nash. Most Nash owners manuals have diagrams on how to set up the bed option. I have a clear Nevada title in my hand for this car, and will gladly help arrange shipping to your door. You can drive this car locally right now, but I would not drive hundreds of miles without going thru the car further.
