Vehicle Detail
This auction is for my early 1985 BMW K100 “Standard” Motorcycle. It was manufactured in August of 1984. This is the rarer of all of the BMW Two Valve engine equipped motorcycles. Having only manufactured 1,932 in it’s U.S. configuration in 1985, it is a rarer bike than say the RS version (7,173 units made) or the RT version (6,726 units made). More high - res pictures of the bike can be seen at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/23384397@N00/sets/72157624697203463/Overall condition is good to excellent. Mechanically it is flawless. Cosmetically I'd say about 8-9 out of 10. It's a 25 y/o bike, so there is minor corrosion on some of the parts. Nothing ugly or that affects performance, but enough to make it not a 10. All the bodywork is clean, scratch free and without damage.Everything on the motorcycle was redone by the previous owner. He supplied me with receipts totaling over $12K when I purchased the bike from him 2 years ago. In the 2 years that I have owned the bike I have performed the following maintenance/repairs:- All routine maintenance as indicated in the owners manual. This includes fluid changes, air, fuel and oil filter changes and spark plug replacement.- New tires front and back. (both tires still have plenty of tread)- New fork seals. This was done only a couple of months ago- Replacement of the center stand. The old one cracked (apparently a common problem on K100s).I have not used the bike enough over the last 2 years to justify keeping it, hence the auction. The bike comes with the following extras:- Multivario Tankbag (The zipper is missing its tag. Still works fine, but is a bit fiddly.)- Cover- BMW Side Cases with original keys in good working condition. FYI: 1 bag is missing one of it's two locks.- Hookups for a battery tender and Gerbings heated riding gear.- Haynes and Clymer K100 Manuals- Bar end mirrors. (These are not fitted currently)- Stainless steel brake lines- Progressive fork springs / Progressive rear shock.- Telefix fork brace ( I don't know if this helps or not, but I left it on...)Regarding Mileage:It was sold to me with 29,785 miles in the listing, and I have completed 5,000 miles since purchasing, hence the 34,785 miles. The dash currently reads just over 90,000 miles, however it is a replacement dash. I know this because it is a later year model K100 dash. The condition of the bike supports the listed mileage of 35,785 miles, however I cannot prove beyond this. My mechanics at Ricchiuti Motorsports on Long Island are the original mechanics since the previous owner. They have confirmed (and performed most of) the work for the previous owner and the condition of the bike. The following is a list of the repairs/maintenance and improvements supplied to me with receipts by the previous owner:" Complete clutch setup, starter motor, starter free wheel gear set, fuel pump, fuel pump mounting with screen and filter, spark plugs and set timing. While this area of the motorcycle was apart, of which I have full photo documentation of the inspection of this area, inspection and greasing of the splines was also performed. The splines look like new! 100%! This repair was in excess of $2,500.00 That said, here is “The List” of some of the items replaced with new or NOS BMW parts and, in some cases, previously owned items which were hard to come by or not made any longer by BMW: K75C “Euro” bars, New Paint DuPont BMW Sedan color code #273 “Island Green Metallic” basecoat / clearcoat, Napoleon bar end mirror set, front forks rebuilt with Progressive springs installed, Progressive 412 Series rear shock, recent Metzeler Lazertec tires, front and rear rims were stripped and powder coated 2007 Ducati frame gray in the centers . . polished the edges . . then each entire rim was clear powder coated to preserve the finish and make them durable . . just need to wax them now . . no more polishing to do!, battery, assorted relays, radiator fan assembly , radiator mash grille powder coated black for durability, oil sight glass, oil pressure switch, complete water/oil pump unit, steering head bearing set, glass beaded valve cover and crankcase covers which I then hand polished the fins as an accent, both engine case gaskets and the grommets on the attaching bolts, all fluids front to back are changed annually, new stock seat from BMW, stainless steel brake lines, front and rear master cylinders, rebuilt calipers front and rear, front and rear rotors, Kevlar pads, throttle cable updated to newer style, clutch cable, crankcase vent hose, complete fuel cap setup, foot peg and shift lever rubbers, left hand switch for high beam etc., right hand “Euro” headlight switch, Telefix fork brace, headlight clear rubber protector, LED rear tail light (hidden in stock mounting), original optional (large) tool kit. There are other small items which were needed to facilitate these repairs and updates which I have documented and will go to the new owner. "A deposit of $500 is required within 48 hours of end of auction. This will be refunded only if something in the listing is not accurate. If you have questions regarding the bike, ask them before you bid.
