Vehicle Detail

Are you looking for an inexpensive minivan with years of life left? This low-mileage 1999 Honda Odyssey EX may be just right for you. We bought it on Ebay two years ago for our business and ended up using it for family trips, hauling anything that wouldn't fit in our compact cars, and taking the whippets to their races. We've put about 13,000 miles on it in 2 years. It has been a reliable and comfortable vehicle for us. It has been professionally maintained by our local Honda dealer. We have complete service records including from two previous owners. It's ready to drive cross-country or around town. Here's some highlights: Replaced within the last year:4 new tires3 engine mountsAir conditioning Shreader valve and refrigerantRear brake pads and drum resurfacedMaster brake cylinder Replaced within the last 2 years for preventative maintenance purposes:Water pumpBeltsOil sealsHead cover gasketTransmission fluid and filterBattery Things we like:Huge carrying capacity Third-row seat folds down for more cargo but can be set up quickly for more passengersWith second row captains chairs removed, you can haul tons of stuff including full 4x8' sheets of plywood if desiredRoom for 7 folks including 2 comfortable captains chairs in second rowWonderful ride on the highwayExcellent ventilation system with optional passenger control22-26 miles per gallon when driven gently and on the highway... 20-22 miles per gallon when rushing around town (EPA: 18/26, but we have never gotten less than 20 MPG)Powerful V-6 3.5L SOHC VTEC engine with no signs of wearGreat safety features like air bags, 4-wheel ABS, and the traction control system Power everythingAlloy wheelsCurrent Virginia Safety InspectionGood paint, body (no rust, no accidents) No oders Things we don't like so much:Clunky transmission. Ever since we've owned it, this Honda sometimes shifts with hesitation. The people who owned it before us said they experienced the same thing. We don't think that means the transmission needs replacing since we've been put 13,000 miles on it with no problems, but it takes a little getting used to.Automatic passenger doors. The left side passenger door operates perfectly. The door on the right requires the door handle to be held open for about 2 seconds before it opens. Both doors open flawlessly when you figure out how, but it takes a little training. For example, neither door opens while the transmission is not in Park. It took us a little while to figure the doors out. Most people think the door handles are for pulling the doors open. They are, in fact, electical switches used to operate a motor that opens the door. Once you figure it out, you just have to explain it to every new passenger. That's a small hassle sometimes.Cup holders are not deep enough for our cups. I use a small bin with elastic straps that can be attached to the center tray for all our drinks. There are some stains on the carpet from previous owners. We had the carpets cleaned but a few small stains are still there. Two small knobs are missing from the Radio/CD. They are used to adjust the bass and balance (so not used much), and you can still adjust the bass and balance without them. One interior light switch is missing its cover, but you can still operate the switch. This is a no-reserve auction, and this van will have a new owner next week. Bid with confidence because we guarantee you'll be satisfied: If you win and don't like the van, then you don't have to buy it. It's not perfect, but we think this minivan is pretty nice. On Sep-02-10 at 17:27:14 PDT, seller added the following information: I should add, I invite anyone who wishes to contact me to see and test-drive our minivan prior to the end of the auction. Just send mail to doug@dyer.com to arrange a visit. On Sep-08-10 at 14:27:15 PDT, seller added the following information: There's just a few more hours to bid and it looks like somebody is going to get a great deal. Monday (labor day), we spent time cleaning the van in the inside and right now I'm heading to the car wash to get the pollen off the the outside. I know the new owner will really like this Honda Odyssey minivan. Hondas are great---we've had 8 since 1977 and only two other cars during that period. For the last 12 years, we've had nothing but Hondas and had excellent luck with them.
