Vehicle Detail
1968 Dodge A-100 Sportsman Van No reserve Up for bid at no reserve is my '68 Dodge short-wheelbase van. She's got the slant 6 with the 3-speed manual transmission (on the column). I've put alot into her lately to make her road worthy, so she's a great runner. She may not win any beauty pagents, but she gets more looks and comments than any high dollar vintage ride. Mechanically, I've replaced all the brakes, (new wheel cyls, master cyl, and lines), new starter, relay, water pump, thermostat, fuel pump, turn signal switch, headlight switch, rebuilt the carb, recored the radiator, and dropped and cleaned the gas tank with a new sending unit. She runs and drives like an old van, lotsa character, and is highly reliable. She's a bit cold-natured, that is, she doesn't like to start without help from some starting fluid if she has been sitting for a week or so. Luckily, you can do this while sitting in the driver seat! When I drive her everyday, she starts everytime without help. Also, the temp gauge is a bit funky, but since I rebuilt pretty much the entire cooling system, I don't trust the gauge anymore. Lastly, the only other 'quirk' is when I resealed the original fuel tank, it now takes twice as long to pump gas at the station, because it tends to spew if you pump at a normal pace. I just allow for extra time, and actually end up talking to other folk at the station who tell me stories of when they were young and what they did in a van like this! The interior is functional, I sewed some cheapo Western Auto seat covers over the original seats, and they are presentable. The floors are solid, except at the driver side foot rest, as seen in the photo. Also, there is a bit of rust behind the driver seat where the floor meets the side. I repainted the doghouse and put in new insulation. I've used the van as a parts hauler, and she's got plenty of room, even for the short wheel base model. The body condition can be seen in the photos. The paint appears original, I find no real signs of any repairs. There is rust and dents; some say that adds character, I say no worries about door dings at Home Depot parking lot. I added the slotted wheels last week, and she looks a little kooler now. Basically, she's a great runner, and needs nothing to get in and go. Everything works except the heater and the sometimes temp gauge. Please ask any questions before you bid, no reserve, so the last bid gets her. Please bid responsibly, as these ads cost money to list. I'm located just north of Macon, Georgia. I reserve the right to end the auction early, and don't really need a trade unless it's a 1961 Plymouth 2-door wagon. Thanks for looking!
