Vehicle Detail

I bought this Escape from my Dad last year when I was living in the Pacific Northwest. It has been in my family for its entire life and garaged for the entire time. It has been on the street in Brooklyn for a couple months now but the exterior is still in good condition. No rust at all. (They don't salt the roads in the Northwest, so cars tend to stay in much better condition.) The interior is clean and the Escape has never been smoked in. It has had two very minor low-speed (less than 5 MPH) fender benders on the rear fender. Both times there was no damage — the rear fender was simply replaced by the local Ford dealership. No other issues. I've driven the Escape across the country going around 80 mph basically the whole way and it ran smooth and strong the entire time. It's a great strong vehicle with plenty of miles left in it (pretty low mileage for a 2002). The V6 gives it a lot of power, it handles great in the city, and the all wheel drive is perfect for the winter and on rough terrain. I've driven the Escape through major snow storms and never had a problem. Just sorry I can't afford to keep it in the city. The tires still have plenty of miles left in them as well. Note: the Autocheck report is incorrect — there are no liens on this vehicle. Known Issues: The CD player can be a little finicky — you can insert and remove all 6 CDs but you have to be a little patient with it sometimes. The stereo otherwise sounds great. At low speed (e.g. when parallel parking) the steering wheel tends to make a relatively mild but noticeable squeak when making sharp turns. The squeak comes from the interior of the vehicle and not from the engine compartment. It is a known issue with early Ford Escapes and does not signal a significant problem. You can read up on it on this page (as well as by Googling "2002 Ford Escape Steering Wheel squeak"). It can be fixed simply by lubricating the steering column boot and flushing the power steering fluid. If this is a dealbreaker for you, let me know and I will have this procedure done myself. No other issues. There is some interior wear, as you would expect: some of the stitching on one of the headrests in the backseat is clearly visible (you can see this in the photo below) and there is a coffee stain on one of the footrests in the front. But all in all the interior still looks very good Delivery: You can contract with a delivery service to have this vehicle delivered. Alternatively, for expenses plus a modest fee, I would consider driving this vehicle myself to much of the continental US as well as Canada. Please feel free to call if there are any questions: 917.512.1893. I can show this vehicle almost any time in the next seven days.
