This is a 1975 Mazda REPU or rotary engine pickup. Only 15,000 of these were actually produced from 1974 to 1977. Most, if not all of these great little trucks, were imported to the US. This one is actually a Washington state original with very little signs of rust beside the normal surface rust on the bed floor. My modest plans were to restore the body to the original butterscotch color(most were blue or white) with the original white racing stripes and slap a 13btt engine and transmission into it. But, unfortunately, my new project(baby), will not let me do this. I bought this truck in Washington from the second owner about four years ago and put a stock 12a and tranny in it. The original 13b four port engine needed a rebuild and it was cheaper to source a 12a with tranny at the time. Well, fast forward four years and the only progress I've made is bolting on a nice set of road race headers w/2.5 inch exhaust, dynomax ultra flo muffler and a set of staggered 14" mag wheels, which look period correct if you ask me. Previous history: I belive the first owner got into a fender bender at some point in the trucks life because when you look at the engine bay there are parts where blue color paint is showing. I don't know if the little monster was originally blue and painted butterscotch, or he replaced dinged body parts with parts from a blue truck and painted the parts butterscotch to match the rest of the truck. Overall the truck is structurally sound. Floorboards have minor surface rust as does the bed. The truck is by no means a show truck but definitely has the potential to stop traffic. It will need body work and paint. All original parts are with the truck except for the drivetrain, which was replaced with one from an '83 RX7. I even have the original exhaust system from the thermal reactor all the way back; yours if you want it. It runs great and handles ok; don't forget, it's almost 36 years old. It has new front wheel bearings, break rotors and pads, new rear wheel brake cylinders(all four), rebuilt break master cyl., very good rear tires but fronts need to be replaced and front end aligned. Although it stops fine, i could never bleed the brake system correctly, it could be better. This has been my daily driver for 4 years but now i need a family car. This is the perfect platform for a complete resto or wild street machine.
