Vehicle Detail
Built by Datsun in October 1972, so it is PRE-SMOG LAW. You can drop any set-up you can fit in it w/o DMV on you or just part it out. The Good Original straight-6 block w/repaired head Header and pipe installed by previous owner 5-speed manual from 1983 (non-turbo) 280zx installed Urethane bushings installed front and rear Tokico performance shocks (non-adjustable) installed all around New tires (though just plain generics in standard 190/70/R14) Round top carbs, not the lesser square tops K&N air filter Original points replaced with electronic ignition Starter replaced last winter Never installed matching 3.9 rear end, but will include with car, along with most (if not all) brackets from early 280z needed to install it. The Not-So-Good Originally had a cheesy Porsche fiberglass bumper kit and rear spoiler that were poorly installed. We removed it all so it has no bumpers. Body has some dings and there are rust issues on doors/hatch areas, but rust is light overall. I tried to spotlight issues in photos. If you need more specific photos, just ask (wzbk@hotmail.com). Interior (door panels, plastic panels, headliner) all removed, as they were all burgundy and thrown out as I had planned to change them to black. Wiring is aged and has issues like 40-year old wiring can have. I had to install a bypass wire from cab straight to the starter to make it start as starter relay is shot. Dashboard is in not-so-good shape, but all instrumentation is in place. Wiring that goes to instruments not making contact at times. I have not been bold enough to pull out the dash to take any of this on. Runs, but rough as carbs are in need of a rebuild. Five slot wheels are not matched set (can tell from up close). Two of the wheels (rear ones) are not true, but still driveable. Rubber brake lines replaced, but rest of brake system needs overhaul. Cable that opens hood broke. I have it rigged with a coat hanger to open from outside. Title is clean (non-op) but registration expires next month, fortunately, no smog test will ever be needed.
