Vehicle Detail

1974 Corvette Stingray Convertible, one of approximately 5,500 manufactured in that model year. Vehicle includes soft top (in excellent condition) as well as the original hard top (pictured). I have owned this automobile for about 20 years, and it has been garage kept. I have driven the vehicle about 1,000 miles per year, which I consider to be the minimum mileage needed to keep the vehicle properly lubricated internally and in good mechanical condition. I've generally considered it a sunny "Sunday afternoon" touring car. It has been driven primarily to local car shows, parades, or as a dependible means of "convertible" transportation when the weather was especially clear. She's probably been driven in the rain intentionally less than 10 times in 20 years. Typically the car has been garaged with the soft top down, waiting for the better driving days of the season. The vehicle is equipped with factory air, though I've never found reason to use it. This particular vehicle was equipped with power steering, power brakes, tilt/telescope steering, manual windows, and an AM/FM mono radio. The interior package is neutral in color and considered "standard", meaning there are no wood inserts on the door panels or in the center console. I purchased the car from the last person to have used the vehicle as "daily transportation", and I did the majority of requisite repairs/restoration during the first 5 years that I owned the vehicle. For those familiar with Corvettes of that era, the "wear issues" included: stainless steel lined front and rear calipers, power steering pump, power steering damptner, flex plate / fly wheel, starter, clock motor, head light actuator, exhaust pipes, univeral joints, rear weel bearings, soft top, interior carpet, paint, mufflers, and battery. The vehicle was repainted using the original paint code and preped while preserving the original fiberglass panel seams. The urethane front and rear bumper covers have been replaced with fiberglass covers. Urethane covers are still available, however they are prone to pealing (due to the flex agent that is added to the paint) and are notorious for tearing upon impact. Fiberglass covers can be repaired, though neither of these bumper covers have ever been damaged. The rear cover is the unique 1974 "seam in the middle" casting. I have always considered this Corvette to be both a stylish and dependable piece of the Chevrolet heritage. Many years of the Corvette history are either stylish or dependable. This era is fortunately "both" in my opinion. I've owned other cars and Corvettes of from this period, and this particular car is the tightest I've ever driven. I attribute that in part to lower mileage, and to the fact that its never been "hot rodded". The vehicles seat covers are the orignal comfort weave. As a convertible, thats a fairly good testiment to the fact that's the car never been treated harshly or neglected. The tires on this car have been in place for the last 15,000 miles and reflect about 50% wear. The wear pattern of the tires is "even". The instrumentation and indicator lamps are in good working order. The "fasten seat belt" indicator and seat sensor are even operating as designed, which to me is fairly amazing for a 36 year old convertible. I recently drove this car on a 6 hour tour, and its performed beautifully. She's never been subject to over heating, and she holds firm fluid levels. I welcome any questions about this Corvette or about other Corvettes of this era. I also have another 20+ photos of the car that I'm happy to share with interested bidders.
