Here's the story. I recently purchased this bike here on ebay to get back into Motorcycle Touring. I picked it up in Savannah and rode it home to Nashville. My wife & I used to travel on BMW motorcycles quite a bit in our 20's & 30's but stopped due to her health problems. Now in our 40's I thought she was healed and this would be a perfect time to try it. Unfortunately she's no longer comfortable on a bike so this mus t go. It's a decent looker at first glance but has a few scratches touchups from over the years, some would call it a well ridden patina. Here's the description from the guy I bought it from(transaction was end of June): Original BMW hard bags, top case, tool kit. owners manual. I purchased and refurbished this motorcycle in 2004. I added a new windshield (Parabellum), rear spring/shock (Hagon), front springs (Progressive), driveshaft and rebuilt the brake calipers, steering head. The seat (Corbin) was recovered locally - they did an excellent job. It has a new battery, the tires (Metzler) have loads of tread left and the spline was lubed 6 months ago. I also added a Signal Dynamics headlight modulator, taillight modulator (Brake! = awesome), Oxford Hot Hands over grips, and Air Wings. This is the bulletproof K100 (see specifications and rating from http://www.ehow.com/about_6467465_1987-bmw-rt-motorcycle-information.html below). With only 49K miles it is just broken in. I rode it cross country in 2007 without any problems - rock solid. It is ready to take you wherever you want to go with comfort and reliability at an affordable price. Why am I selling it? I just bought another so now have three with room for only two in the garage so it must go. Here's some more truth from me: The Hagon shock he put on lowers the bike. If you have a shorter inseam this is perfect. I'm 5-10" 31" inseam and I flatfoot like a cruiser. Which makes it real easy to manueveur in the garage or parking. It also has a Staintune Exhaust and K&N filter. I replaced the rear master cyclinder with a new one last week. The old one was leaking. The Odometer has stopped working. All other speedo/tach/gear indicator all work fine. (I understand this is common on the Kbikes passspeedo can send you the gears for about $75 or you can send the whole unit to them at about $215 +shipping to repair) BMW K 100 RT Specifications The 1987 BMW K 100 RT is classified as a touring bike.
