Straight out of Back to the Future, this sexy automobile is truly a 1980's icon! The car is in beautiful condition. NO DINGS or SCRATCHES anywhere on the vehicle. It has been meticulously maintained. It was originally owned and stored in California by a true Delorean lover. It was always garage kept and well maintained. Most of the existing miles were put on the car by the original owner. I bought it in May 2004 and have added approximately 500 miles in the time I have owned it. I have stored it in a heated garage and start it up and run it regularly. It is a pleasure to drive! You will get a lot of attention in this shiny, stainless steel car! The car always starts without hesitation on the first turn of the key. It runs exceptionally well. I just bought a new battery for the car about 2 months ago. Now for some of the special features of the car: * Turbo charger was added by original owner by a certified Delorean technician. The system works flawlessly! These are no longer available to my knowledge. * A custom stainless tuned exhaust system has been added, giving it a deep tone both in idle and driving. It sounds AWESOME! * Has the early 1981 grooved hood with the flip up gas cap cover! This is also RARE!!! Only on the early 1981 cars. * The car has been lowered to the original Delorean design specifications by the dealer, giving it the sleek look as John Delorean intended. * It has a very rare automatic transmission. There is a slight delay going from 1st to 2nd gear. Otherwise, it works great. * All original paperwork is included as well as the original pouches (see pictures). * An original cleaning kit is included (see pictures). * A rare ski rack kit is included (see pictures). * A complete technical manual showing all system (engine, transmission, electrical, etc.) schematics and parts lists is included (see pictures). And is currently not working. * The air conditioner has a slow leak; it works for several weeks after charging. It has been upgraded to the newer coolant. * The tires are still good, but should probably be replaced before use because of their age. Tread wear is minimal. * There is a fluid leak in the rear end. It is not engine oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid. But is probably leaking from the transaxle. It is not a large leak. I do not think any of the issues listed above are serious in nature or very expensive to fix. I have taken this into account in my starting price. However, I promise the overall condition of the car will make up for these minor problems! I require a $500 PayPal payment within 24 hours from the successful bidder. Final payment in full must be by Certified Check or PayPal within 7 days of end of auction. Delivery is to be paid by the buyer, but I will do all I can to help coordinate with the shipping company.
