Vehicle Detail
SUMMARY: This is an excellent example of a rare FJ62. You simply do not find them like this in the northeast States, and thats because it was a southern vehicle until about a year ago. Check the Vehicle History Report and you find an excellent score on this unmolested, stock FJ62. At just under 140K miles, Engine (6 cyl.), automatic 4spd transmission and air-actuated transfer case are in great running order. Steering and brakes are great. Suspension is great (stock, never lifted). Tires are brand new (less than 500 miles) on American Racing alloy rims. All 4 power windows roll all the way up and down (again, rare for this model FJ). Even the power antenna works! Original Owners Manual, tool kit and front floor mats are all there. Body has no rust, and stone chips/blisters have all been repaired and maintained. You just don't find them like this. Trust me, I know. I searched long and hard for this FJ to use as a base vehicle to build an off-road machine for my wife. Ever since she saw this particular model in a movie (Dante's Peak), she wanted one. Of course, me being an avid Suzuki 4x4 off-road enthusiast, I immediately envisioned 3-4"of lift, ARB bull bars and air lockers, winch, roof basket with PIAA lights, the whole she-bang. This is the model with the strongest FJ solid axles they ever made. But finding something this old (it is a 22 year old classic) in the north east just doesn't happen unless you search hard and long. I did just that. So why am I selling it? Hmmm...I first built my wife a 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara exactly like I was going to build this FJ. She loved it (we still have it), but the second kid made it impractical size wise. So that started the quest for this FJ. But now that we bought this, she says its too big for her liking. Now little Miss Goldielocks wants either a really old FJ 4dr or a classic Land Rover. So my reasoning for keeping this FJ isn't there, let alone the desire to spend time modifying something neither of us want to drive. So I figured this is the best way to even try to recoup my investment, and be also certain that this goes to someone who will appreciate this rare gem. This one runs great and you could fly in and drive it anywhere in America. Keep it stock to enjoy the essence of great design, restore it to its full showroom glory, or build it to the next level to conquer the Rubicon Trail (or go to the local mall). INTERIOR: Driver's seat has no tears and is in good condition (foam still firm). All other seats are clean with no tears as well. Carpet is clean, but there is damage to the rear cargo area. It appears that the previous owner (PO) spilled something on the carpet (bleach?) and it damaged about a 1 sq.ft. area. Carpet stain masked most of it, but if you want pretty, it will need to be replaced. Paint beneath the damage is in perfect condition. PO removed the rear head rests at some point, and lost them, so they are missing. Factory AM/FM/Cassette radio works as does power antenna and 4 speakers. Dash is crack and damage free. As mentioned, all power windows work well. Power locks worked until recently when they just stopped. I will attempt to diagnose the problem and repair before the sale, otherwise they're not working now. All gauges and dash lights work. Factory front floor mats are in place and in good condition (for floor mats), rear mats are aftermarket. Headliner is tear free with some marks and smudges. Some small scratches and pinholes are on the soft vinyl that covers the rear wheel wells. The rear passenger side safety belt is missing. All others work correctly. Fuel door and hood release handles work correctly. Original hand throttle is fully functional. Factory Owners Manual and Toyota Tool Kit are included. These alone have sold on eBay for hundreds. Look at the pictures and your see the wrenches and plug socket actually say "Toyota". These are rare items to find. Overall, its very clean and could be gorgeous with a professional detailing. Pictures are in this listing EXTERIOR: The exterior of this FJ looks great and turns heads wherever you go. The body is clean and straight with the exception is a few dings and such. Factory paint is shiny, but is showing some sun fade in a few places, like top of fenders. The chrome is shiny, except for a couple spots on the front plastic grille where there is some delamination. Front grille is free of cracks, but there is some fading on the blacked-out areas and could use touch-up. Mud flaps are still in place. Rubber plastic bumber caps are showing age, and are deformed from the sun. The rear bumper has a dent (as seen in photo) and a small ding in the lift lid where the PO's wife backed into a pipe, as I was told. I intended to replace the bumpers with a ARB bull bar and a rear swing out tire carrier bumper, so I didn't mind it when we bought it. There is a small dent on the upper passengers door. Paint blisters and stone chips were either filled with touch-up or sanded, glazed and resprayed. Any spot when we got it that had chipped paint or surface rust got fixed to stop it, which was extremely minor as the last thing I wanted to do was sink a butt load of money into a rusty FJ creating a jungle safari capable trail rig (so my wife could go shopping and kids sports with it). One place in particular was the lower side of the driver's door and another was the front corner of the passengers side. I used Duplicolor Perfect Match (which wasn't) and it is somewhat noticable in the photo of that area. At least to me it is. The American Racing alloy rims are in good condition and shiny (and make the FJ look much better), but factory take-offs sadly are long longer with this truck. The rubber weather stripping is still supple, but some around lights is beginning to show age. Rook rack is great and unbroken. Side mirrors are power, fully functional and crack free. Frame and undercarraige is solid and everything I looked at is in great shape. Its obvious that this FJ was garaged and sheltered from the elements for much of its life. But to bring it to showroom, it will need the dents removed, and the body re-shot with this beautiful factory color. ENGINE: The engine runs great. It idles smoothly and does not smoke, even at start up. The FJ was well maintained over its life. New rotor, cap, plugs, wires, fluids and filters were changed recently. I see no leaks, either water or oils. Radiator was replaced about a year ago and system was flushed at that time. A gas vapor recovery system union (in rear near fuel filler nozzle) was recently replaced with genuine Toyota part. Has current NYS DMV emissons inspection. As with any big FJ like this, MPG is about 13-16 highway here in the North East. They never got any better, and if anyone tells you different, they are lying! LOL But it has a LOT of power and never goes slow uphill even if its fully loaded. Engine bays pictures at in this listing. TRANSMISSION: Transmission shifts great with no drama at all. Shifter is tight, too. T-case shifts into and out of high/low smoothly, and the 4wd air-actuated system is fully functional. PO flushed/changed transmission about a year and a half ago. Fuel injection system funtions normally. BRAKES/STEERING: Brakes are excellent and linear, with no pulsation or pulling. They will bring this Land Yacht to a halt quickly. Steering is great; tight and responsive. You can drive 65 with one finger while your arm is on the door (although I don't recommend this unsafe behavior). There is no play in the steering box. Pump works well with no leaks in the system. SUSPENSION: Suspension is fine, and in stock form. Shocks were replaced by PO. The tires are brand new (less than 500 miles) Goodyear Wrangler AT/S LT235/75R15. Spare appears to be the original. The FJ rides and handles great. AXLES: Axles work great, and free-wheeling manual hubs turn freely. FWIW, these FJ62 axles are the strongest FJ axles Toyota ever made and are HIGHLY desireable in the off-road/rockcrawling community, routinely selling for thousands just for the axles. Even with much larger tires, you will not break these axles. Pictures are in this listing. OTHER: The A/C still works and blows cold, but I believe its still R-12. I do not know, since it still worked I didn't need to do anything to it. If you need to service it, conversion to R-134a might be needed. Power mirrors work fine as well. Front wipers work well, as does the rear wiper and the washers. All lights, interior and exterior, work correctly. Like I said, overall this is a very solid FJ62 Land Cruiser, and you don't find them like this. Land Cruisers like this are apperciating daily. This is an invesment you can enjoy and drive anywhere, anytime. I have set the starting price far below what others of the caliber (and even less caliber) have sold for an below what I paid for it. This is a NO RESERVE auction, so someone will definately own this rare FJ. I am 100% confident that whomever wins the auction will be very happy with this Cruiser. I welcome questions, and bidders can feel free to inspect the auto at my location prior to bid close. I can send more pics if needed. I can drive and deliver the Cruiser to you up to 250 miles from 12076. This will cost the buyer $2.00/mile, based on Google Maps, and will be paid separate from and in addition to the final sale price of the auction. After the sale is complete and money has been transferred, I can deliver the vehicle and shipping cost will be paid in cash upon arrival, or via paypal prior to my departure. I am selling this locally, and reserve the right to end the auction early. However, I see no reason why I would do so, as I will tell any walk-ups to bid on Ebay if they want it. I don't know what more to think of, but ask questions if you need something. DO NOT BID ON THIS AUCTION UNLESS YOU CAN MAKE THE DEPOSIT VIA PAYPAL WITHIN TWENTY FOUR (24) HOURS OF THE AUCTION CLOSE, AND FULL PAYMENT WITHIN SEVEN (7) DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSE! DON'T TRY TO GET AUTO FINANCING FOR AN OLD VEHICLE BECAUSE BANKS PROBABLY WON'T GIVE IT. I WILL EXPECT FULL PAYMENT WITHIN SEVEN DAYS(7). IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY, DON'T BID. YOU WILL BE HELD LIABLE UNDER EBAY'S POLICIES AND ALL APPLICABLE LAWS, CODES, RULES AND REGULATIONS. BY BIDDING YOU ENTER INTO A LEAGE AND BINDING CONTRACT. BE PREPARED TO PAY IF YOU BID. THIS VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS-IS WITH NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, GIVEN BY THE SELLER. THE SELLER IS PROVIDING INFORMATION TO HIS/HER BEST AND ACTUAL KNOWLEDGE BUT CAN NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE TO BUYER, BUYER'S AGENT, AND/OR ANY SUCCESSOR, FOR ANY AND ALL CONDITIONS, DAMAGES OR INJURIES BEYOND SUCH BEST AND ACTUAL KNOWLEDGE.
