This elegant Rolls Royce was displayed by world famous Lazarus Motor Museum until the owner passed and museum closed in 1990s. The family decided to keep it and sent to an out of state restoration shop to have removed motor rebuilt. The shop changed hands, went out of business and the shop had the car moved to alternate out of state storage. In the interim some parts of motor were lost (head, pistons, rods,etc). The lower block assembly, etc are still stored and come with car. ONE GENTLEMAN HAS SUGGESTED MAKING IT INTO THE ULTIMATE WEDDING CAR AND RENT IT OUT FOR SERIOUS MONEY TO CLIENTS WANTING SOMETHING REALLY SPECIAL. HE SAYS IT WOULD NOT BE THAT DIFFICULT OR REALLY THAT EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL DRIVE TRAIN WITH A NEW GM V8 MOTOR, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND AFTERMARKET AIR CONDITIONING IN THE FRONT AND REAR. Just last month the family had the car transported back to Illinois and the photos were taken when it was unloaded off the trailer. IT has NOT been stored outside! This of one of some 1000 1920s-1980s vehicles from the family, ex museum display and others that Collector Car Liquidators will be offering through ebay. It appear to be mostly complete other than basically some missing mechanical and small part. It even has the glorious flying "Lady" hood ornament, the original Buffalo wire wheel wrench, original hand crank, 1968 Black and yellow California plates and even the telephone for notifying the chauffer what the very important passengers desired.
It's a straight, believed to be a mostly original car featuring an alunimum body with classic styled steel clamshell fenders complimented by genuine wirewheel sidemounted wheels.It will need restored but as straight and as it is, it could be a worthy family project.
They have several buyers that have been awaiting its arrival and an out of USA collector has offered to buy it for $75,000 if the family would give him 24 months to buy on a layaway type arrangement with the car remaining here until paid off. The owners are not adverse to some time or possibly even a partial trade delivered to Illinois by the buyer but really do not want to wait 2 years. $55,000 has already been offered outright by a couple of collectors and the owners feel to be fair to all, it's going on ebay at NO RESERVE with a $55,000 starting bid, If $55,000 is all it brings, some lucky collector will be a proud new owner of a vintage Rolls Royce for less than a newer ever depreciating luxury car.
